Convey or Downing.

by turkish » 17 Aug 2006 16:37

I've always felt Downing was quite overrated and has been living off his fantastic first few months in the Prem. Given the choice, who would you rather have on the left?

Harold

Downing is pants. I was at a wedding about a month ago and some bloke was a Boro season ticket holder - He said Downing is utter 5h1te!

Downing gets a large amount of assists as he showed yesterday.

Convey anyday. Although Downing looked the business before he got that serious injury in about September last year.

are you joking? Convey was the best for America at the whole world cup where i dont believe downing got more than about 20 min appearances.
Convey will also establish himself as a big boy this year, i dont expect Downing to improve to much under southgate, whereas Convey is under the tutorage of a great winger.

Convey all the way

SouthDownsRoyal Convey by a mile.

Some of us need to forget about our Reading bias for a little while. Even if Convey could be considered better than Downing, there's no way you could say 'by a mile'. Downing is a proven Premiership player, whereas Convey has had one excellent Championship season, and an OK World Cup.

I hope this changes over the course of the season, but anyone that seriously would rather have Convey on the left wing than Downing at this point in time, must have been drinking.

its funny you should mention that....

seriously though, i dont see how people can claim its a huge unbreachable gap when he's just played in the world cup finals, and made a mockery of italy albeit for about 20 minutes.

in this instance sir, you should remove your bias against reading biasm
:P

Don't think that is what he is saying.

At this moment in time, Downing would be the better pick as he has shown he can do the job in the Prem. Convey hasn't. I think he will be a star this year but in a straight pick at this moment in time, I would pick Downing.
