I've always felt there is something special (and more fun) about getting a big result away from home - better athmosphere, big day out etc etc. Nearly picked Liverpool, but too obvious. Hence:

Brentford 1-1 Reading, for all the reasons already mentioned. Couldn't even see the bottom corner from where I was on the terrace. Seconds felt like hours waiting for the net to move.

Tranmere 1-3 Reading, in the days when the second division and TV coverage was novel. And a highly unexpected result, given that they scuffed us home and away that season.

Crystal Palace 1-1 Reading, 2005-6. If any one game summed up the 106ers, it was this one. Lose a goal via a dodgy penalty to that diving little ****, who milks it, go straight back down the other end and equalise.

SpaceCruiser Jesus Christ, you are joking. It was the worse ever game I'd seen.

Well, we all have our own viewpoint and perception of these things, but let me refresh your mind with a few quotes from the match reviews on this very board:

"Reading were given a footballing lesson by a stunning Arsenal side this afternoon..... Arsenal were in a different league to Reading with a team packed full of world-class individuals working as a solid team unit..... They were a much better side than their fellow title contenders [Man Utd and Clelsea] and their fast free-flowing football was amazing to watch, making them by far the best side to visit the Madejski Stadium this season."

"What struck me most about Arsenal's performance was their running and movement and the way perfectly weighted passes were delivered at precisely the right moment over and over again. It was a very humbling experience for Reading to meet Arsenal on top form, but let us not get too depressed about it, after all they are one of the best sides in Europe. Even the Reading fans felt moved to acknowledge the quality of their play applauding them off the field at the end."

"Without doubt the best exhibition of how to play the beautiful game of football ever seen at the Madejski."

Quite how you can see this as being "the worst game I've ever seen" is utterly beyond my comprehension. Yes, Reading lost, but Brazil would have been trounced by that Arsenal team on that day. It was sublime football.
