Federici - the best keeper in the Championship?

TBM, not sure there's any signal of intent from any club for Federici in the latest story. They're more reporting that Federici yet again issued a come and get me plea to the Premier League on the same day as Villa lost their keeper.

I'm not interested in other clubs 'keepers but even if Fed was deemed good enough for back up in the top flight we would know about it.

Why not show me any evidence, amongst all the wild speculation that goes on throughout any transfer window, of the slightest top flight interest in our goalkeeper.

All I remember is panic over losing McCarthy.

I heard Adie Williams claiming Kebe had had just 6 decent games this season when his recent absence has shown just how blunt we look without him...........................

If Federici is the best in this division he must be one of a very poor bunch that no one deems good enough for the top flight.

Feds ain't gonna want to move to warm the bench, or sit in the reserves for a PL side, he'll want to be starting, or at least in with a shout of starting....
How many Premier League sides signed new first / second choice keepers in the Window? None that I can think of.....

And why would we hear anything if a side approached Hammond, simply to be told "bugger off, he's ours"?

We have taken points from a number of games this season, not least vs Coventry at the weekend, on the strength of Feds performance, meanwhile I cannot think of any games this year since the first six (where we were defensively frail), where he can be held to account for us losing any points. That to me makes him at minimum, a very good 'keeper.

Incidentally, if he's not the best in the Championship, then who is? From what I've seen I can't think of many candidates....

I think Federici is nothing special and have merely asked for some reasonable evidence that he is CURRENTLY being rated so highly beyond the Mad Stad

Being the best in the Championship doesn't mean you'd necessarily attract a bid for all sorts of reasons. We may never hear about it even it there was so there's not a lot of point to this strand of the debate.

That's what happens to 2nd tier players who are GENUINELY among the best at this level.

I'm no experts in contracts but wasn't his old one due to expire in the summer which may have meant he could talk to other clubs 6 months before?

If a player is out of contract at the end of the season he can, quite rightly, enter talks some months ahead.
