Divvy I hope that's his opinion and not insider information. We need someone in permanently now who can get settled and plan for a very busy summer.

http://www.bettingpro.com/category/Foot ... 303170043/

Betting Pro speculating we begin interviewing next week and want someone in before the close of the 2 week break.

I'm afraid you may have to learn the hard way that massive changes and getting rid of your best players during one summer doesn't work. We tried to do the same thing a few years ago when we had a manager called Brendan Rodgers and years before that when we had a manager called Tommy Burns not that you'll remember either of them as Reading Manager.

I've said elsewhere we need 3 transfer windows before we'll be ready for a return to the top flight. Nevertheless, this summer will see a good 7-8 leave and as many come in, many of which are frees (Roberts, Hunt, Church -strikers as well, Gunnarsson already gone, Tabb, Harte, Shorey - expect a new contract, more..)

It's still a busy summer ahead.

Sadly, whilst still in his prime, Steve Coppell brought him here as "cover" for inferiors such as James Harper and
"God's" favourites ALWAYS came first even when staring relegation in the face.

this thread is about praise for gunnarsson
not for spouting off on your own mentalist anti coppell and anti harps agenda

ITS NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU!

WTF did this post have to do with me :|

Here's a clue: "Me" posters will generally manage more than 3,000 posts in 9 years...........................and can sometimes create their own tsunami with more than 50k spread over several different usernames

So, yes, back to Gunnarsson.

Had Coppell not been convinced that the sun shone from James Harper's backside, Bryn would have started at least another 100 games.

In Melonhead World, this amounts to a vendetta against James Harper, if for no other reason than it represents a great excuse for another 10 posts.

critisism based on post count is the best you can do?

lol.

you used a post on a thread about gunnarson leaving to moan about harps and coppell two of our greatest ever employees.
all i did was call you on it.

im sure youll get over it one day

SCIAG Some moments of brilliance that will live with those who saw them for many years. Thanks Bryn.

sandman I really don't know why I bother responding to you when you come out with dumb comments like that. However, what you are saying is utter b*llocks. Open your eyes, start to read things properly and you might just notice that there have been times when I have said that we need players like Bryn was at 28 (and that was up to PL standard). What's more, despite your pathetic comeback, what I stated remains valid. A couple of 28 year olds like Brynjar would have made a big difference. Far more than signing hopes for the future.

Of course, signing a few other players of genuine PL standard would also have helped!

Apologies to Bryn for allowing Sandman to drag me into a different argument on a thread that was meant to be a tribute to the great Icelantic player.

When Gunnarsson was 28 he was competing with Gavin Mahon for a place in the Watford side and Aidy Boothroyd eventually let Gunnarsson go to Reading because Mahon was preferred. When he came here, yes he played his part in getting us up and keeping us up, but once Sidwell left he showed he wasn't up to playing in the Premier League. As much as I liked Brynjar, he was probably never really a PL standard player, at best he was equal to Leigertwood (who has played in the PL with three different sides).
dontbedaft So does this make Frederici our longest serving member of the first team squad?

Federici was signed in January 2005. Gunnarsson was signed that summer. So Federici was the longest serving player anyway, although Gunnarsson made his debut first.

NO.

I mentioned Coppell's obsession with Harper as the reason why Gunnarsson (HIM leaving being the subject of this thread :| ) played many less games for us than he should have done.

In Melonhead's Coppell Wonderland this is clearly a dagger to the heart.

I hear Crawley can be nice this time of year, why not arrange a day trip with Ian Royal? I'm sure your respective keyboards would enjoy a very rare day of rest.

Such a shame the likes of Woodcote and Royalee have such contempt for the best manager this club has ever had. Some people are just a bit strange though I guess.

Royalee didn't like the style of football, it's not like he hated the man or something

Well, granted not everyone likes watching the most successful period in their clubs history and you can see why the likes of Little, Shorey and Kitson with their complete lack of grace and style would be horrifying. I was thinking the swearing was kind of a give away to not liking the guy but maybe he's just a Craggy Island priest who just shouts at people randomly.
