Mr.Swainey
SPARTA I like Macca but £6m would be ludicrous. I expect it'll be more like £3m with add-ons, but even that's great business with less than 12 months left on his deal.

Yep, good business for the club, just a shame that we end up with Federici in goal.

:? Federici > McCarthy IMO

Spot on. I really cannot understand why some on here have got such a downer on Feds. They are quick to bring up each and every mistake they believe that he has made, yet have extremely poor memories when it comes to the clangers that McCarthy has made - and there have been a numb. Were McCarthy the faultless keeper that they like to make out, he would have gone by now and for a lot more than £3M.

Wish McCarthy would hurry up and go before his value plummets even further than it has already done in the last 6 months.

And yet it's McCarthy that's allegedly in demand for millions and not Federici.

No one claims McCarthy is faultless. No one credible seriously claims he is a far better keeper. Most recognise there isn't much between either at the moment, despite the polarisation that some partisans like sandman would like to encourage.

Federici is about as likeable as Swindon Town in all honesty.

For their last home game the attendance was 6530 - so pretty popular in my view.

Tottenham are supposedly in for their second goalkeeper of the transfer window as The Times Gary Jacob has linked us with young Reading stopper Alex McCarthy.

McCarthy is best known for his unbelievable performance for Reading against Liverpool in their last campaign in the Premier League, and kept an impressive 12 clean sheets last season too.

He would join Michel Vorm in pulling on a Spurs goalkeeper shirt for the first time this summer, with the Dutch international ‘keeper signing from Swansea City along with Ben Davies in early August for around £3.5million.

The likelihood would be than McCarthy would go out on loan immediately after signing for Tottenham, with a return to Reading the most likely destination. However this transfer would have a much deeper meaning in the long term.

The signing of a young goalkeeper in the side’s current state would mean that opportunities to even sit on the bench would be limited, with Hugo Lloris immovable in-between the sticks and Brad Friedel and Michel Vorm waiting in the ranks.

The signing of McCarthy would point towards one or two departures in the goalkeeping area, maybe not this season but certainly the next.

that is the most unlikely story yet!

the feature of Mauricio Pochettino's style of play is passing it along from the back and strong distribution from a keeper. both of which are seemingly AM's weaknesses! he is top quality shot stopping, yes, but do you remember what happened last season at southampton when the keeper made that shocking mistake from a simple routine distribution? he got dropped by pochettino.

in case you need reminding:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzQEzN1gSGE

SSN reporting £2m bid from QPR, sounds more realistic.

Goodbye Alex, reckon you will develop into a top keeper sometime soon. :(

QPR not a good fit though.
