I'm not too fussed on him leaving. The team is restricted with him on the pitch and the manager can't risk dropping him as he's our top goal scorer.

Would also give us the benefit of having actual wingers (ala last 20 against Bristol City) who can attack fullbacks. If Sa had been on he would have capitalised on the numerous balls in the box where Blackman hadn't bothered to run for.

He also has a serious attitude problem if he doesn't get passed the ball.

Thanks for the goals Nick, cya.

That, mate, is an incorrect statement. In this instance I disrespect your opinion and you remain wrong.

If we've been offered decent money for him and he's made it clear that he doesn't want to sign a new contract, then course we're gonna accept it. Can't blame the club for that.

Would be surprised if he doesn't think he can hold out for a better option though.

Ouroboros Really? I'd rather try to keep one player actually performing rather than snaffle an extra 500k/ 1m over what we paid and then risk that on another signing,

It really depends what you define as actually performing.

As I've said before, I don't rate Blackman too highly and think we'd probably be a better team without him. My guess would be that if we've accepted a bid for him he's either made it relatively clear he's not going to sign a new contract or McDermott thinks much the same as me about him.

“I’m really settled,” said the 26-year-old. “I was even through the days when I wasn’t playing too much.

“There are some great people here. They’ve really been good to me so I’m very happy here.”

He added: “I like the south more than the north now, although my family don’t like to hear that.

“There’s a lot more going on. I feel settled - I’m really happy.”

You did*, but i'm just pointing out he went on record to state he was happy here - so something must have changed.

It does seem a little odd, but perhaps those that matter aren't quite as blinded by a bit of a freak run of form as some fans and the media.

His agent will have a good idea of potential interested parties and I wouldn't be surprised if other offers come in as well. I'm also guessing that perhaps he prefers a return to the north and that might limit his options a little.

I didn't, I wrote 'and he's made it clear'. I weren't being sarcy, honest! Let's forget any of this ever happened.

There was this one time, when almost all Reading fans liked & felt settled & happy with Mr. Steven Clarke as our manager.

Then a couple of months later, nobody felt the same.

Football is a fickle world, why can't the players be like the fans?

Not sure what all the fuss is about to be honest.....

Positives
1. He has scored goals for us so far this season (what about the other 2 when he was shite)

Negatives
1. He has 6 months to run on his contract
2. He plays for himself and not the team
3. He sulks like a child when he isn't "the main man"
4. He upsets other players with his attitude (confirmed by other players) and tendency to "shoot at every opportunity"
5. We would see the best of Vydra without him

For all of the reasons above..... SELL SELL SELL

Player in talking up his current situation shock...

That may well be the truth of course, but I don't tend to believe a word players and managers say so personally I don't put much faith in those quotes.

Don't forget that he was signed on a Premier League contract when Zingarvich was still about. I can't imagine we're offering him a great wage in comparison to his existing contract, especially after 2.5 years of not being any good.

I'm not too bothered if he goes, but he might not want to. A sideways move and if he's settled he might not want to up sticks.

CW seems to think this is "waving the white flag for the season", absolutely not true at all. I think players like Vydra and Sa would benefit from the move and score more goals.

Since his good run of form he's scored 2 goals in 14 appearances, which is rubbish
