UpNorth Yes, Tetek deserves more pre-season game time.

No left backs on trial??

Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill

According to Wikipedia, he plays for our Dutch feeder team

"Brandon Rutherford Ormonde-Ottewill is an English professional footballer who plays as a left back for Dutch side Reading FC Wikipedia"

Dann injured, What a surprise.
The triallists are a motley crue. We need better.

My immediate reaction was I’d only take Hutchinson on a one year deal but now maybe Jeanvier too. Tbf the second half was really difficult to judge anyone as we looked so disorganised which was hardly a surprise. However, in the first half I thought after the initial 5 minutes we competed quite well.

Surprised to be saying that Ejaria was my MOTFH. Fornah looks like a good signing and certainly doesn’t lack confidence. I’ve been banging on about BOO so disappointed not to see him play but he’s injured. No mention of Luongo whatsoever?

I am hoping that the one or two new signings expected next week don’t include any of the trialists at this stage. Aside from the obvious positions we definitely need a replacement if Joao gets injured and Wickham is not the answer.

Hound Shocked to hear Dann was out injured

Whoever took the decision to offer that crock a new contract needs to be held to account.

Didn’t really get that decision at all - a deal for Morrison or Dann, surely you’ve got to go with Morrison?

Yep, seemed like a no brainer. It is such a complete waste of money keeping Dann on, completely negligent from the club.

Dann's deal was announced in March, which makes me think he had triggered a clause in his deal i.e. if in this 1 year deal you make 15 appearances, then you will automatically be eligible for another 1 year deal.

Yeah good point, he must have had something like that in place. If you look at all our other business nothing was sorted out before the 1st of July really, we certainly don't get things done in March.

I would take Hutchinson for sure, currently we have literally one CM/DM in Fornah, yes you can say Ejaria can play there but you wouldn't want him in a midfield two without protection behind him and Tetek is unproven, and has probably played more games for the First team at RB than CM.

We need bodies, especially in CM and LB and considering we are limited to only 5 loans this season, a free for Hutchinson makes complete sense. He can also cover at CB if needed which will most probably be the case with Dann injured every 5 minutes.

Given we were restricted to one year deals only, is that even possible?

Would make it all the worse we let him trigger the clause by giving him the appearance, knowing the clause existed.

Finally got round to watching a bit of the game. Just 20 mins in the first half, can’t be bothered to watch the second

Thought the coaching was as interesting as the game. A lot of shouts to keep narrow and play high. Hopefully a big effort to have less space between the back 4 and midfield defensively and play a bit more on the front foot

Hutchinson and Jeanvier both look handy. It Hutch was a couple of years younger would be a no brainier, just hope he has the legs for the season at 33

Ovie looked energetic. Much as we don’t like it, McIntytre is capable at LB. Looked quite good going forward generally

McIntyre did look decent at LB and given the difficulty bringing players in, he could definitely be our number 2 in that position for me personally.

Given we were playing quite high, Jeanvier having a bit of pace about him is useful for us and to be honest would be a pretty welcomed addition to our defence, experienced and in the prime of his career as well I'd take him personally. The only problem is, it leaves a tough decision whether to leave out Holmes or McIntyre at CB as I can't imagine either will be starting in their respective full back positions over the course of the season.

Definitely agree that Hutchinson and Jeanvier would be the players to sign. I am quite surprised that we have taken both Jodi Jones and Josh Murphy on trial considering we are quite well stocked in wide areas. Suppose we could potentially use someone else to compete with Hoilett on the left side.

Definitely would like those 2 to sign - not sure Hutchinson has 46 games in him but definitely something about him and the club do seem to want to get the deal done according to JLow.

I might be thinking about his brother but hasn't Josh Murphy played as a left back at some point? Might be an option there.

Maybe, it rings a bell anyway. I'm not sure I would want us to use him as an option there unless we had a serious injury crisis though with whoever ends up potentially playing there and the numbers we have in that position this season.

Agree with the point in principle though, seen as it seems unlikely we will have a squad littered with numbers, having players that are versatile and can play various different positions will be key, Hutchinson CB/DM for example.

The OS is it’s usual helpful self, no detail as to the squad or score given. Still, I suppose at least it tells you there’s a behind closed doors game going on.
