I’m really looking forward to this season - I think partly it’s the prove the 100% of experts wrong who have us nailed on to go down and partly because of the excitement of the unknown of our squad.

I think it’s fair to say we’ve had a much better close season than we could have expected.

Pre-kids would definitely have been spending a cracking weekend in Blackpool

leon I think this season could go in a number of directions which is kind of interesting and worrying at the same time.

I think we need to go out and start smashing the opposition midfield hard become difficult to beat - we have to get a bit dirty but let’s not piss around like we have been for the last five seasons.

I really couldn’t give a fcuk about nice looking football.

Amen brother, my thoughts exactly.

One thing is certain. We will pick up a lot more yellow cards this season. A lot more.

Probably a good thing considering we were one of the best disciplined last season and conceded the joint highest amount of goals.

No problem with it as long we don’t start racking up suspensions and sendings offs,

Joao out. I really hope this is not a lengthy injury yet again
Azeez out again. He can't last five minutes without getting injured

Only one senior outfield player on the bench

Ince said on Thurs Joao would have a late test before the game so shouldn't be anything major. If he was 50-50 best to take no chances today

He's played 5 at the back through pre-season and now it's 4?!

That is a weaker team than I was expecting.

Nerver mind, here we go URRRRZ

No it's perfectly normal to have all these injuries and there isn't a problem. Any complaints are alarmist.

South Coast Royal Just a rumour (hopefully with no substance) but if Joao is indeed out for 8-10 weeks I would prefer a fit Long to run around and make a nuisance of himself for about 60 minutes and maybe get the occasional goal.

I agree with URRZZ that Meite isn't very effective playing through the middle-he looks as though he could be a bullying centre-forward and Ince has played him there presumably hoping for that but IMHO it doesn't work well enough and his is so much more effective from out wide (cue hat-trick at Blackpool  ).

Have no idea what to expect for today's game with both clubs having a number of new players so would be happy with a draw and I wouldn't be surprised if this season was the direct opposite of last and we go away looking for 0-0s or 1-0 wins.

Still feels too early for the first game of the season but , as ever, am looking forward to it.

Sadly it appears that the rumour may be right.

Reckon we will get another decent striker in before the end of the window. Especially when the premier league teams announce their squads. Should be a few strikers looking for first team football. There are no limits to the numbers of loans we can have, but can only pick 5 in the match day squad. So I’m sure with a bit of tinkering we can cope. At least this happened before the window has closed.
