Is NO-ONE concerned, like me, that we'll do well to hang on to Doyler amongst others before this season is out? He didn't appear to be fazed at all yesterday - played his usual game and was outstanding imho. If someone came in with £2 mill upwards for him, the club would bite their hands off. That's what worries me more than anything at the moment.

2 million? The club would laugh it off RL.
Expect 6/7 million upwards at LEAST for doyle.

WEll, I'm just plucking figures out of the air, obviously - my point remains the same though. BTW you are terribly well versed in the ins and outs of RFC for an american girl who's only just moved over here.

I've been here for almost 9 months. Long enough to have seen enough on TV and been to a few games.

Moot point, but I thought only Rigott and Rochembach were booked for 'Boro.

Boateng definately got a Yellow right at the end.

And btw, following that match. After Downing was made to look silly by seol for 60% of the that game i'd go with Convey over him any day of the week. (just thought i'd post something on topic ;))

2 million? Bite their hands off? Don't be so silly. The club isn't that stupid. When he goes it will be for a lot - he really has got serious potential and Coppell knows that.

Downing was a joy to watch. At times he simply looked the best player on the pitch, fantastic goal, great touches and great on the ball. Anyone that thinks at this stage convey has remotely anything on downing should take off their rose tinted glasses. He excelled for england in midweek and looked class on saturday. Will be a big talent for england.

That post did make me laugh. £8 million for Andy Johnson but £2 million for Doyle. What a load of old bollocks, I thought you were more intelligent than that.

Given he isn't having his contract run out any time soon to the best of my knowledge and he is one of 3 quality strikers we have. I can't see us selling him for any figure until January. Even then it will need to be a damn sight higher than £2m especially as by then he will be a reletively proven premiership player. We have no need to sell.

Every player has a price, if he continues to play like he did on Sat somebody will come in for him. We won't even consider selling for less than £5m but any more than that and Madjeski's business head may well come in to play. Esp. if we are looking fairly safe.

I'd be very surprised if we sold Doyle for less than £10m because a) we don't need to and b) this summer has taught us that we won't be able to get a replacement in?

If he does go then I think Long would be a very tidy replacement, but truly hope he doesn't leave until next season, if at all...

That's the only gutting thing about being in the Prem - at the end of the season (or before???) come relegation or not, we will lose the core members of our great, great team. :(

Does anyone still think Boateng is a class player after Saturday and would they still want him over our two midfielders?

I'd want him in the squad as well as Harps and Sidwell, definitely.
