I think every player comes to the point eventually where he starts to look for new challenges and ok this has hardly been a season that Shorey can look back on with pride and it is fair to say that he has just been a shadow of his England International status that he earned last year, for me the smart move would have been to ship him out before the start of the season and get some new blood in the left back position, but alas that was probably never likely to happen, obvious similarities with Sidwell can be argued, seeing his contract out etc............. but Sids did put the performances in last year even though he knew he was going.

Overall as fans we can be disappointed with Shoreys play and sometimes attitude this year but we cant really moan too much after all what do you get for £25,000 from Orient reserves nowadays ????

Sidwell was in a team playing well, so obviously that's going to have an impact. I just don't think Shorey is playing well, it's not lack of effort or giving up, he like the rest of the team just haven't played well for the majority of the season. Shorey has just broken into the England fold, if he has any ambition whatsoever then he should look to move on. He's at the worst paying Premiership club and he'll win absolutely nothing here, he's done everything and more he set out to do at RFC, hopefully he'll put in a great performance at Derby, we'll stay up and he can get his transfer. Ideal scenario.

Regardless it'll be a shame to see him leave in the summer, replacing a left foot as good as his and the consistency levels he's produced over a long period of time will be extremely tough to replace, and impossible to replace for as you rightly say £25,000!!

He owes us nothing. Take his whole RFC career into account, well he's been fantastic. We ask for professionalism from players, and with that comes the right to sell their labour as they choose. Whether a player's priority is the security and inner calm of being a 'one club man', or maximising earnings, or winning stuff, or a combination of the three is their career choice.

Only fans are loyal. The rest - chairmen, managers, investors, bankers, staff are all 'professionals'. It's naive to think that they should share our blind, idiotic, lifelong fidelity.

In other words we are great and the rest are a bunch of fickle tossers; abusing our trust, loyalty and cash.

As it always has been, always will, and always should be.

How else could we deliver our pompous, self righteous and twisted rants if the b'stards all became as loyal as us. It'd be awful...

Fair enough Shorey set piece delivery has been shocking recently but up until 2 months ago it was pretty decent. He has still up the most goals in the Prem for a defender. It’s funny that people are criticising Shoreys delivery when his delivery it’s a million times better than S Hunts.
