Got bored of this after 2 pages!

If Long had blazed his pen over instead (which he also hit hard and high down the middle) would we be having a thread about how terrible he is (steady now!)?

Yes he has an attitude but not even he would be that stupid to blaze over deliberately.

Agree. For some on here to believe Lita would deliberately miss is a complete joke.
The guys confidence is shot. Sure he has bought on himself in many ways with his arrogance and attitude but he desperately needs some goals.
A fit and firing Lita would be an asset for this club.

May I ask a couple questions please? Thanks.

1. If everyone knew Lita would miss it, whether on purpose or not, is Coppell a muppett for having him take it?

2. Do you think Shane Long is a better player than Leroy Lita is?

1. I did not think lita would miss and i would think it was more a case of players stepping up themselves as opposed to coppell actually having him take it.

I2. IMO NO shane long is not a better player

Re. #1, its typically a teams' manager who decides who will take penalty kicks. Its not a circus. If Coppell...like many on here...knew Lita would miss it, intentionally or otherwise, then Lita should not have taken it.

Coppell is supposed to know his players and manage them accordingly. If we went against convention and somehow he had allowed it to turn in to a bizarre free for all, then Coppell should still have stepped in and said 'No fecking way are you taking it, Lita!'.

If Lita took the penalty simply because he, and he alone, wanted/demanded it...then I'm really, really pi$$ed off.

Re. #2, I agree. Give Lita 30 games or Long 30 games this season and I'm pretty sure who would score more goals.

Noel Hunt would, coming on as sub for the last 5 minutes of each game.

Quite often in penalty shoot outs the manager does ask who wants one and gives the players a lot of say in who takes one and what order

The last thing you want is a player stepping up to take one under the managers orders when they really dont fancy taking one

Fairly decent response from Leroy on the OS, saying he's gonna fight for his place etc.

I hope he suffers a painful injury playing against Forest Green reserves.

If his attitude was right, Leroy Lita would be a proven Premiership striker by now. However, I think he will be non league by the times he's 30.

On O/S:

After Lita's midweek penalty miss at Stoke, there were preposterous suggestions he had missed on purpose; claims that Steve was disgusted with.

"Shame on anyone for thinking that, absolutely no way at all. If you see him score in a five-a-side in training it changes his day and whole demeanour - and it's multiplied by ten in the first team, it's so important to him to score."
