Son of Len I suppose I need to get tix to the Earthquakes visit to Giants Stadium in May although I don't really care for the Red Bulls. But I can wear my hoops and cheer for Bobby!

Pity, unless they can rush this to completion by then.

RoyalChicagoFC Made at first a regular follower (I'd been nosing around a bit before then) and later a fan of the club out of me.

When he started banging 'em in early on in 2005/6, I knew at once the Rzz were going up (and they scoffed --scoffed!-- when I said so).

Now he's gone, but I'm still here, and I ain't going anywhere. So we'll always have the Bobster to thank for that.

Or to blame, depending upon your point of view. Cheerz Bobberooski, and welcome home. You done us proud, and thank gawd you didn't end up doing it @ miserable Tottnum.

Same for me - the presence of both Bobby and Marcus interested me in Reading and now I will remain an urrzz fan.

Definitely hope he comes back this side - I'd love to see him play and get my 2006 shirt (Royals) signed by him.

Tip top top whole bloke, sad to see him go - hope he gets a good break after all the crap he's had with injuries in the last 2 years.

It's a massive shame about the injury plagued years Bobby has had since 2006, I seriously thought at the end of 05/06 he had what it took to go on and show that he was capable in the Premiership. I'm still convinced he would have if he'd ever been fully fit, he was class against Liverpool last season and showed the odd glimpse in quite a few matches. However he never got the consistency he had in 05/06 and I put that down to his fitness and lightweight nature. He's still young (25 or so) and I hope that he can rebuild in the U.S. and come back over to England and establish himself in the Premiership with somebody which I'm still convinced he's capable of doing. The time at home will do him good, and if he ever returns to the Madejski Stadium for another team I will be giving him applause because of incredible he was in our history making season. Injury has robbed us of a very good player.

Just like to endorse what most others are saying. Very sad it has ended this way. He really looked the part three years ago with an endless supply of quality crosses. He was never the same after the World Cup.
Hope he does really well in the States.

As of now, the March 28 match is at Giants Stadium, so I expect them to play there 8 weeks later. But if the new place is completed, I can use the PATH train.

Such a shame. Great season 05-06, and for that he will always have a place in the RFC "good egg" pile.

Best of luck for the future.

Bobby and Marcus were also one of the reasons why I wound up Reading Till I Die. This clip was in fact the clincher, when Bobby was caught on camera throwing his shorts in the crowd in jubilation:

The ole ole ole ole, convey, sent shivers down my spine there.

One player I will always, always remember. Never have I wanted a player to suceed so much as back in the FA Cup game vs Cardiff but unfortunately injuries just got the better of him and its a sad and fond farewell to the guy I thought would make the biggest impact in our first Prem season.

It's been mentioned so much but that Millwall game was one the main games I remember in recent times because of Bobby's magic feet.

I hope he takes the best memories away with him from his time at Reading and can go and find success again. Who knows, maybe one day he will pull on the hoops again and show us that the guys across the pond can play soccer after all. 8)

Thanks for everything Bobby

Shame to see him released, although totally understandable if he is to return to the States to play in the MLS and he was out of contract at the end of the season anyway

Some fantastic memories of his performances in 05/06 and appeared to be one of the nicest, most generous footballers you could meet, unlike the bloody idiot who now occupies his left wing berth.

All the best Bobby

Some of the best times I have had supporting the club over the last 23 years was watching Convey, Doyle and Shorey linking up down the left flank during the promotion season, tearing apart whichever poor right back has the misfortune to be lining up against us that day.

For me this is the most annoying of all the players who have left the club over the last few years. Shorey, Sidwell, Kitson, Sonko and Little all went on to better things and so will Doyle when his time comes (fair play to them). It's a shame though when a player who has bags of ability has his career damaged at what was a early age. Similar to the demise of Paul Canoville who along with Convey and Gilkes were for me the best left wingers I have seen play for the club.

Good luck Bobby, thanks for the memories.

Gutted, really gutted to see him go but i fully understand the reasons behind the decision, never scored a tap in always quality goals,Millwall at home,Wolves at home and away,Burnley away, but for me the best one was Norwich at home,Shorey flicked it over the Norwich player for Convey to run on to,he skinned Hughes to rifle a shot into the bottom corner of the net, pure class.A really nice guy who conducted himself superbly on and off the pitch (just a shame our current left winger can't do the same....sorry,had to get that in.... )

Good luck Bobby, may all your hopes and dreams be fullfield................How about one more rendition of "ole, ole ole ole,Convey,Convey" tomorrow for the lad.............

Its ironic in the week SHunt signs a new lucrative contract the player who didn't give him a sniff in 2005/06 quietly shuffles away. You would have had long odds on it being this way around three years ago.
I always felt Coppell would feel protective towards Convey more than most given that he too was slight in build and relatively small.

At his best, he was a more talented player than Hunt will ever be. I don't know what's happened, he was never as good after the world cup but he wasn't so bad he had to be released. Now he has a few months of sitting around, maybe a few trials. Surely it would be better for both parties if he agreed to a significant wage cut and played reserve football for six months, covering for Hunt if need be?

Good luck Bobby- please, don't get stuck in a reserve side like Shorey, Sonko, Kitson and Little, make a career for yourself!

The Millwall goal made me realise that we could go up. For that, Mr Convey is a legend.

such an unfortunate spell of injuries, we never really got to see whether he could cut it in the premiership, but he will go down in part of the clubs history. he was a big part of the 106 squad

best wishes Bobby, and hopefully you'll be around tomorrow afternoon to get the send off you deserve from Reading fans

I think this video is a fantastic tribute to Convey.
Watching that makes me realise that Convey, back then, was possibly better than S Hunt of today. Of course, it's mainly because S Hunt is so inconsistent.
