Alan Partridge
Gordons Cumming It doesn't matter who we pick we're still gonna lose.

 Cheer up Gord.

Considering how we've been playing recently,I don't think that is an unrealistic assumption.

It's difficult to be cheery at the moment.

I think it will be a much improved performance but will result in a draw = dropped points!

The way he's been treated over the last 2 seasons we should count ourselves lucky if he's still vaguely interested in playing for us.

According to Murts, our manager has considered 4-5-1 but feels our players are better suited to playing 4-4-2 and, let's be fair here, recent results and last years relegation show what a shrewd manager our club is blessed with.

Has a football manager ever resigned in a motoway service area? You could be the first, Steve.

Coppell's 1000th. St Patrick's Day.

It's bound to end in disappointment!

What Reading usually do in this sort of situation is continue to lose until it makes no damned difference and then win. Alternatively, we'll win a couple to raise our hopes and then see them dashed again with another poor run.

It's The Reading Way. You youngsters better start getting used to it!

Here is my team:

Federici
Armstrong
Bikey
Pearce
Little
Harper
Cisse
Kebe
Doyle
Kitson

And yes I know that is only 10 players because I just couldn't bring myself to type Rosenior's name.

rg6royal Fed

Back earlier in the season we had Karacan and Bikey in the team and we were destroying teams.

Coming to believe the 'It's not who we play' more like 'HOW we play'. We have a lot of quality in the side (apart from Shunt!), but you could stick Ronaldo; Gerrard etc...etc..in the team - but if you keep asking them to play the same formation - then (A) others teams will know how to break us and (B) the players in the squad will soon lose heart - whoever they are Doyle or Gerrard.

No good changing the team if we don't change the tactics we employ??????

Woodcote Royal No, the game has just moved on in the last 3 years........in case you hadn't noticed.

Which system are the current top 2 using then? 4-4-2 isn't it?

I can't believe the serious debate about the merits of 3-5-2 on this thread, when every time we lose someone blames it on playing against a 5-man midfield. The popularity of 4-5-1 is one of the many reasons why the 3-5-2 system has all but died out - your three centre backs are more than a little wasted if the opposition is only playing 1 up. It goes without saying that there is absolutely no way we'll be playing a back 3 anytime this season. It's not going to be a system that any of our defenders are comfortable in, it would be totally new ground of Coppell, and even thinking about it is a waste of time. Except for me thinking about it in order to write this post, which is fine. I mean God, Kebe at wing back? Is that really a serious suggestion?

We might, possibly, end up playing 4-5-1 if Coppell really is desperate, but that will be as radical as it gets.
