Volvicanus What the hell was that kiss thing about?

I didn't know that Madejski had been knighted. LOL- at him introducing himself as Sir.

I actually cringed when he said that!!! Who introduces themselves as a sir??!

A sensible thing to do - saves him being chased around all over the place by press clamouring for an inside story, looking for some dirt. Everything he said is in the public domain now and no need for him to say anything else and difficult for anyone to take half a quote and make up a story.

Totally unambiguous.

I liked what he said about the way the club is run financially, particularly in comparison to other clubs. It's a part of what makes us special to my eyes.

Still in a state of shock.

Since when has taking a team up the prem and back yet still being a whisker away from autopro worthy of a manager leaving!????

Do they people of Reading have an IQ around the 80 mark?

Is Madejski getting demented in his old age letting this happen!??

Screw you Madejski.

You're really not keeping up.

It had nothing to do with Madejski - Coppell wanted to go - he didn't want another year as he believes that the players, the club, everyone in fact, including himself, would benefit from a change.

There are not many supporters (IQ of 80 is being generous) who will be pleased to see him go but it is impossible to argue with those sentiments.

Unless I'm either missing the point of this post and it's an amazing piece of satire...

Coppell has chosen to leave, the club wanted him to stay. Do you really think there would have been a press conference two days after the announcement and have it hinted that he could well return in the future if this was the club getting rid?

Your the one with the low IQ mate. With this squad we should of easily obtained automatic promotion, so finishing 4th, the pathetic home form in 2009 and the manner of the play-off exit, is more than enough reasons for the manager to leave.

I think this blog says it so much better than I could:

Let's really judge how good Coppell was at the end of next season...

Huh, you think you have a better IQ than him? If that's the case, then how do you consistently fail to realise the difference between "of" and "have".

Prick.

People keep on saying that about this squad but on Tuesday I looked and thought "there is not a single player here that you would think is up to Premiership football"

Personally I think the resources he had at his disposal were enough to get us back up, especially after the position we'd got ourselves into by Christmas.

No doubt that some of the players weren't up to the task but if you took the squad at the start of the season and got the most out of it then I think we should've had enough to do it. Coppell had the chance to add to those players and trim his squad accordingly but didn't.

We were only missing three key elements, a dominant central midfielder, a decent right winger and a physical centre forward, and unfortunately he never really addresses those weaknesses, but the biggest failing was getting the best out of what we had already.

But he doesn't have an issue with his ego and it wasn't his idea to name the stadium after himself!

Unless, of course, Dillon and Downes have more to add!

It is interesting to see that whilst JM states that he was disappointed that SC is leaving, he doesn't disagree with SC's view that it was time for him to go! If it was a politician making such a statement, people might well be highlighting how it cleverly covers both bases.

Even if I felt that SC had completely screwed up this season, I would still have been disappointed to see him leave, even though it might have been best for him and the club.
