Arch Boy, they're really talking up Hunt moving on and no one appears to be biting.

Unfortunately - Hunt will be a Reading player come September.

So we'll get three months of inspired play out of him as he'll be playing for a new contract - somewhere else!

Ker-ching!

"Sky Sports News understands that Reading are set to announce the signing of £6million from Wolves at a press conference this morning. Brendon Rodgers' first coup as Reading boss has been the capture of the highly rated Wolves money for the bargain price of one disinterested Irish striker. Reading chairman John Madjeski said 'I'm thrilled to be able to welcome £6million to Reading, it is just the kind of deal that we have been looking for'. However, the Chairman warned Royals fans not to expect an immediate impact from the new signing, hinting that it may be some time before £6million sees any action for Reading."

It will be odd to see Doyle in a scummy Wolves shirt - but £6m? We've robbed them!

Robbed?

Its the going rate for a player of his quality. Doyle has proved he can score goals at the highest level and to top that he is hard working and low maintenance

Dont be bitter that he has left us, just be greateful you got to see a player of his class for as long as we did. In the past we probably would only have had him for 6 months or a season at most!

To be honest I don't care who he goes to, as long as whoever it is coughs up the £6.5m.

Good luck to him: he was a Reading great. Judging by the number of Doyles you see written on the back of shirts he was rightly popular with the fans.

We will miss him, but since January 2008, he only performed fitfully for us, and his form in the second half of the relegation season was pretty shocking.

It's time for him to move on and for us to look forward to watching him on Match of the Day next year: hopefully he'll score a few more goals than Kitson.

A Right Royal Signing!
Posted on: Tue 30 Jun 2009

Wolves have today swooped to complete the signing of much sought-after striker Kevin Doyle from Reading to help spearhead their return to the Premier League.

The highly-rated 25-year-old Irishman, a regular in the Republic's international team, has chosen Wolves over several other potential top flight options to become the third summer signing made by Mick McCarthy.

Kevin completed his medical late last night and put pen to paper on a four-year contract to make the move from Berkshire for an undisclosed fee.

The striker, who notched 18 goals in the Championship for Reading last season as well as being named the Football Association of Ireland's Player of the Year, is relishing the prospect of returning to the Premier League.

After completing the deal he spoke to WOW ahead of being unveiled to the press at Molineux this morning.

"I'm delighted to get the move sorted and can't wait to get going," he said.

"I spoke to the manager and chief executive over a week ago and came to the training ground to see everything.

"I've been making my mind up over the last couple of weeks and am just really pleased the decision has been made.

"The facilities here are top class and it's great to be going back into the Premier League again.

"I'm sad to be leaving Reading because I had some great years there but I'm going with their blessing as well which is nice.

"This is a fresh start."

Kevin admits there are plenty of reasons why we opted for Wolves ahead of other possible Premier destinations, notably the speed in which they acted to show their interest and how comfortable he felt at his first meeting with the boss.

"Wolves were the first club that actually came in and settled things with Reading and so they were the first club I spoke to," he revealed.

"I was expecting a long summer but Wolves were in straightaway.

"It was nice to see how keen they were and when I came in and met the manager I just got on really well with him.

"I had a good easy conversation with him and it felt right.

"I'm leaving one good set of Irish lads to join another as well as obviously knowing Marcus (Hahnemann) as well!

"It always makes it that little bit easier to settle in when there are a few faces you recognise."

Kevin also boasts the sort of Premier League pedigree which Wolves have been keen to bring in this summer, scoring 13 goals from 28 top flight appearances in the Royals' first season in the big league back in 2006/07.

And the striker who shot to prominence in the Eircom League with Cork City prior to moving to England in 2005 believes the Molineux Men should not have any fear as they prepare for the tough challenge ahead.

"We finished a point or maybe even a goal away from Europe when we went up with Reading," he recalls.

"I don't know why we did so well but we all went in there wide eyed and excited and fresh to play and that got us through.

"It was a bit like it is with Wolves now in that none of us had played in the Premier League before.

"When you're in there and you realise that while it's difficult it's not a completely different world I think you realise you can do well there.

"I wanted to get back there with Reading but we didn't do it last season.

"I'm delighted to be joining what is historically a massive club and one which will be trying to establish itself in the Premier League."

Good luck Kevin. A true Royals Legend. I trust we have agreed a buy back price for when we swap places next season?

Ah. Ok.
Bye Doyle.
I'll miss you and I'm sure some of the ladies will miss you too, you stud.
He was brilliant for us and I hope he does bloody brilliantly for Wolves.
He's the one player I want who leaves us to do well, and not fade to nothingness.
