http://www.forest.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=163223Matthew Mills Becomes Tenth New Signing For Forest
Out of all the targets for Nottingham Forest this summer, the transfer of Matthew Mills from Doncaster Rovers has proved the most difficult to secure. But Vital Forest has today learned, that a deal to bring the highly rated Centre Half to the City Ground, has been completed.
Mills will be announced as the tenth new player to join Billy Davies and he'll be seen as one of the key signings for the club. The fee is set to be announced as undisclosed, but we expect it to be in the region of £2.5M.
The 23 year old joined Rovers, for a club record fee of £300,000 from Man City in 2008 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best defenders outside the Premiership. The Reds' beat off competion from WBA for his signature and he will be a major part of the redevelopment of the team. This is yet another statement of intent from the club and shows that we really do mean business next season.
The defender made a great name for himself in the Championship last season, drawing comparisons by some to Colin Cooper, and several clubs have been in the chase for the centre back including other Premiership teams including Wolves & Birmingham, but it is believed that Mills had set his heart on a move to the Reds, long before any fee was agreed and had let it be known to the Doncaster hierarchy of his desire to further his career on Trent side.
Mills made 45 appearances for Rovers last season picking up 7 yellow cards & 1 red in a campaign that saw them keep 10 clean sheets in the league (13 in all competitions) which played a massive part in their survival, with doncaster being the lowest scorers in the league (42), they needed a rock at the back & Matt Mills was that rock which is why they have tried so desperately to hold onto the player.
Welcome to the City Ground Matt, Now, where's our left back?
