strap There is a huge amount of nonsense being spouted on this thread about Mr Mad's loans to the club. For goodness sake, go onto the Companies House website, pay your £1 (yes one solitary pound), and you can download the club's accounts for 07-08 (last available). Full details of all his loans, including interest rates charged, are there for all to see. There are no "gifts", no interest free loans (except to the Hotel), even when the loans are due for repayment, (on demand would you believe!!). Oh, and Mr mad owns Hogwood and charges RFC £18,000 pa rent on it.

HTH.

Thanks strap, hopefully this'll shut up people who claim he's bankrolling us and he's donating billions, etc

No probs, although I doubt mere facts will stop some of our more sychophantic members

But you have to forgive them, Strap. It must be difficult to read anything at all when your head is wedged so firmly up someone's posterior.

This has all been discussed ad nauseam on these boards and the accounts for 07/08 are not news, Strap. Those accounts would not show anything about money SJM contributed to the club earlier in his tenure that was not in the form of a loan, so you don't win any "gifts" argument that way. What the accounts do show is that despite the fact that he has loaned a very large amount of money, he has not had any of it back. If you lent me a thousand pounds ten years ago and had not yet asked for any of it back, that would make you something of a saint in my eyes.

Although it's just perverse to read it and continue to argue the opposite case !!

I would be more than happy to rent a fine garden of that size for £18,000pa, maybe I should gazump them and offer SJM £20,000. I sure he would kick the club out for the extra £2000 as he is such a money grabber

I think P B's entry earlier in the thread is a great reminder of the journey. It is so easy to forget where we were and think only of the last four seasons. Great stadium...stability....hopefully a young team that will develop in to something special...and an academy that may produce yet more talent...perhaps SJM has got it right.

Even he has admitted a foreign (probably) owner with deep pockets is what he would like to see now and that would give a chance of the breakthrough to established premiership status (if that would ever be possible..a la Bolton ?) but most of all we have a club to enjoy that looks like it will be there for the long term..

The thing is, I detest fictional eulogies!

I trust that at some stage before you depart this earth you will be awarded the Freedom of Madejski Towers and RFC. Such a unswerving, unquestioning and loyal subject deserves that at the very least.

The trouble is, apart from your username, you're not really a name are you.
