PremAddict Yup, everyone on the Texas side was pretty much done away with but it did great things for overall morale.

Anyway, I always learn something new on this board wrt cultural transfer. thanks!

Ian Royal I'd rather it was Rourke's Drift.

That was us and a win for the defence (admittedly under the usual method of guns vs spears). Didn't everyone at the Alamo get slaughtered?

The battle which does have football links is The Battle of Spion Kop, in the Boer War, which took place on a very steep and rocky hillside in January 1900. Although a British defeat, it caught the imagination at the time - which was also when many football grounds were being built - and it's the origin of the term "Kop" for a steep terrace.

See here if you want more details.

Your link is wrong, Spion Kop was a farce.

Ian Herring I've only just got back from the game as I cycled. Timed it wrong and missed the game. So cycled to Blackpool and had an ice cream then cycled back after that.

Great to see we won at Preston.

I've never forgiven them for that shite they came out with re: Md Dog and warming up in their half.

Just because we signed Butler and Forster from 'under their noses'.

The Raleigh 'Arena' made it there and back? I tell you what those inner tubes that Peter Hare cycles of Twyford does really are the business. Happy days.

I took my stabilisers off for this one.

Archie's penalty Bryn did the tackle. And what a tackle it was.

For the cross across think it was Howard but hmm not so sure...

Yep, definitely Bryn - he put in several like that in the first half.

Cheers chaps, thought height and build wise it was Bryn, but couldn't match that up with the crazy Boris hair, so thought it might have been Howard.

Good ball across from Howard if it was him though. At last I've seen him do something other than a decent long shot.
