Yep, but sadly as its the sanitised, don't risk offending anyone, BBC they deemed many of his most interesting "expolits" unbroadcastable and so didn't mention them.

They had an interview with Brian Roach who not only missed 'the goal' against Tranmere because he was writing notes at the time but then compounded that by claiming that Friday celebrated that goal by kissing a policeman behind the goal!

I'm sure that I am not wrong in stating that the kissing the policeman celebration was at an entirely different game (Stockport?). Somewhere I've got a press cutting from the Evening Post which has a photo of that incident plus a quote from the policeman in question who was a Reading supporter.

Incidentally, referring back to the Robin Friday book last night, there are a lot of quotes from people who knew Friday best that claim the Friday bad boy image was greatly over exaggerated. Hurley himself states categorically that Friday never drank before games when he was in charge, having been caught out once and learned his lesson.

Cop-kissing was during the 2-1 win against Rochdale on 9th April 1975. Andy Alleyne scored the first (he did not kiss a policeman as far as I can recall).

I remember Charlie Hurley complaining at Crewe's negative tactics, seeing as it was meant to be a tv spectacular.

I also remember we signed Dennis Nelson from Crewe. He and Mick Hollis (Darlington) were signed that Spring to help us break a terrible run. It worked.

7, 8, 9, 10, 11: Murray, Hiron, Friday, Carnaby, Dunphy/Stuckey. Unbeatable.

Wherever I read about RF, my thoughts often go back to Minty.

In my small teenage years he was one of my heroes, and I often associated him and Robin as a partnership.

Great hair and moustache, he ended up driving an ambulance for the Avenue School

I hero worshipped Murray, but the halo slipped a little when I sort of got to know him. He was a regular at the Roebuck near Tilehurst station( KURTZ lol), going out with one of the barmaids. Seemed all too human.

Minty used to take a mean penalty - just hammered it towards the middle of the goal - but never recall him missing.

I have been lucky enough to have seen a number of very good, exciting footballers play live.

The three that I would pay money to see no matter what team they were in, but simply because they were extremely exicting and could do stuff in a match that 'ordinary' players just couldn't and they're George Best, Diego Maradona and Robin Friday.

Having scored two penalties in a game (against Walsall I think) he missed another which cost him a fairly rare type of hat-trick.

I doubt it. Hurley was not a 'mug' in any shape or form. That is why he was one of the few (only) people able to manage and control Friday.
