Woodcote Royal The answer is simple. The likes of Bikey and Marek were there purely to play second fiddle to his favourites whereas the likes of a Butt or a Savage; the sort of attainable signings who would have given us a real chance of staying up, would not have been happy with a few outings in the cup.

Coppell believed in Bikey, Bikey let himself down, time after time, then again why and who put Bikey forwards as Prem player, we will never know

Wimb You have got to be joking :| you think SSC deliberatly sidelined players and dented our chances of winning just because he was mates with players? This the same manager who dropped Shunt and Kitson for the Burnley game last year, one of the biggest matches in our history.

Every manager has favourites yes, but they are usually favourites for the reasons that they perform or have a strong history of performing for him. Perhaps he left some players in for too long hoping they would bounce back, but meh win some lose some.

Utterly stupid to try and play the 'would siggy be playing now' game.

Having ready so many of your posts, being "Utterly stupid" is something you could write a book on.

Unfortunately, Coppell gets too attached to his players and has too many relegations on his CV because of it.

So, in his LAST match he dropped Hunt and Kitson :P He also started the season with Hunt at left back having had all summer to replace the sulking Shorey.

In other words, he was so desperate to keep Shorey, a player who had a face like a smacked arse for most of the previous season, not only did he fail to provide cover for a player who couldn't wait to leave, he REFUSED to sign a replacement until he'd actually left when it had been obvious for months that he would go.

In other words, he was prepared to weaken our starting 11 in the vein hope of hanging onto a player who should have had "Get Me Out Of Here!!!" stamped on his forehead for all of the previous campaign.

I don't suppose there's the slightest chance that you are starting get the picture, Wimb................................no, I didn't think so.

Coppell "believed" in all his reserves as cover for his 106 and to make the odd splash in the cup.......................that's as far as it went. Feel free to show where this was not the case.

Now he's gone, and with BR out of the way, too, we are starting to see how we were being held up by having to play the likes of Harper week in week out . Anyone needing a reality check should take a look at some of the results being achieved by over paid players and their blinkered manager just 12 months ago.

I think Woodcote probably believes Coppell was responsible for 11th September and 7th of July as well.

The man's blinkers are truely incredible.

I'm happy for everyone to draw their own conclusions................................including informed fans like yourself who produce match reports based on radio commentary from Tim Dellor.

A fantastic retort but for several small, but I feel crucial points. It's impossible to get BBCRBerkshire in Cambridgeshire. You don't need to go to games to comment on selection policy involving favourites vs young'uns. It's bad idea to argue about individual match incidents with anyone who has half a brain who was there, but overall management quality and how the season as a whole went, not so much of a problem.

You see, if he (and others) were right about not being able to form an opinion on anything from the radio, they'd be able to argue me into a standstill with their excellent 1st hand witness reports of what happened. Rather than just making a petty "I'm a better fan than you" comment and making no attempt at any sort of coherant or intelligent counter-argument.

I think those who watch games have more weight when it comes to arguments.

But there are many stupid people who go to games and don't know anything about football.

And there are many more fairly intelligent people who do know a bit about football who go to games but let their own prejudices get in the way of their analysis.

I've noted before, Ian, you are a very informed fan with the literary talent to make your views on every match sound as though you were there in person rather than sat in whatever passes for your armchair. Respect.

You always have an excuse Ian

Ironically, two people can sit side by side at a game and still have conflicting opinions. One thing I concede to Ian is that supporting a team from afar is not the easiest thing to do. Starved of local media coverage, all that you rely on is snippets on Satellite / Cable TV or the internet.

I'm unconvinced Peter Hood is any better than Dellor, if not worse... But Armstrong is pretty good and has decent credentials as well.

The Goat was fed What's his contract situation? The biggest irony is that we might actually get some decent cash off some second rate European outfit if he's got some contract to run.
That's the only reason he keeps getting a place on the bench and a cameo sub appearance - He needs to be in the shop window.

It's a shame the Czechs didn't qualify for the world cup.
