SJM is a true legend.

Got photo of him with my lad when he was young - he was thrilled to meet Sir John, and still treasures the picture.

Seeing him coming out to greet the away followings all over the country was always a great moment.

Never approached him myself as I wouldn't want to impinge upon his privacy, but with his commitment to the club and his eccentricities, I'd say he was the only acceptable Tory multimillionaire to ever live.

SJM is great - I remember helping him onto a sofa after he had quite a fund afternoon in a pub in Henley.

As an aside - While I was happy RC completed the purchase I've not got overexcited so far but the first few things (talking about the importance of the academy, investing in the stadium, plenty of communication) is all very positive. Obviously the acid test is how many players we keep and how we perform, but there's a not particularly narrow avenue to promotion next year followed by him selling the majority of his share for a decent profit. It's nice to be ran as a business again.

And before he leaves us rather than posthumously, because, let's be honest, humility is not his most prominent attribute, and for him to witness it would be an wholly appropriate way of thinking him.

I'm delighted that they've announced significant pitch improvements have begun.

Fantastic to already see so much positive progress coming out of the club almost everyday. We deserve it after the last couple of years.

We should get the Port Vale fans to pay for it.

The Cap Met Sir John, back in the day, up the Costa Cafe in Reading Station. Came across as quite a character. Asked him where he was off to and he replied "Up to Liverpool. Without casting aspersions, say no more".

A blind date, or some sort of surprise?

Either way he probably had a lot of laughs

and if at the unveiling it toppled over and killed him does it count as posthumously if the covering is still on?

It’s kinda strange there has been nothing official from the club about the new investment. Despite them announcing it on LinkedIn about a week or so ago. I would have thought there would have been some sort of statement

Possibly, but they posted it on LinkedIn with a picture of them in the changing room. You would have thought the club would have released a statement of some sorts on the back of that. But I get it. Your modus operandi is to just disagree with everyone.

Hendo
His brand new Bentley was there at the last game of the season.

He did an interview on bbc berks a couple of weeks back saying he was pleased with the takeover and that it was rob, and they have met and have spoken. But unlike all the previous owners he didn’t feel the need to offer any words of wisdom on how to run the club as for the first time we’ve got an owner who has been an owner before, and knows what he’s doing.
