andrew1957 Well I for one am still fuming about this.

some of you seem to think £6M is a good fee but you are bonkers IMO. Siggy was the one truly PL class player that we have in the squad. The sort of player that will most likely go for £20M plus sooner or later. He is the sort of player that could just have fired us to the PL in what is an extremely tight division.

I have supported the club through thick and thin but this is utter madness.

I agree to an extent... the guy's got serious class, he's young and his breakthrough season was incredible. Not sure you can say he will most likely go for 20 million one day - but I certainly wouldn't rule it out either. The truth is the way things are right now a bid of 4-6 million was always going to be accepted... doesn't mean I have to like it though.

Secondly, it's a shame that of all the players we could have sold not only does he have probably the most ability and the most potential but he also wanted to stay.

It would have been better for us to have lost Kebe or McAnuff IMHO because now the Sig is gone I can see that these two could get itchy feet and if we lost a winger we at least have Antonio plus a few of the youngsters like HRK, Bignall, Taylor etc that can sit on the bench. The Sig I would suggest to be irreplaceable and the only player that it might have been worth saying no thanks we want to hold onto him.

But as has been said if no money is coming from other sources then it has to come from somewhere else and we could do with strengthening the squad.

But I reckon BM will really be unhappy to see Gylfi go so soon after saying he was happy to stay on board, SJM on the other hand will no doubt be over the moon.

IcelandicStokie I post this here as this no unfounded rumour or gossip but Gylfi will have a medical at German side Hoffenheim tomorrow.

Google translation about the article from Icelands biggest newspaper Morgunblaðið:

Yet again, good find, good comebacks and job done.

1019: DONE DEAL: Get in there. Looks like 20-year-old Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has waved goodbye to English football for now as he has joined German side Hoffenheim from Championship Reading. The fee is anywhere between £4m-6m.

Sorry to see him go but this is what professional fooballers do to further their careers.

If you look at the next game he could be involved with it is against Schalke on Friday night the 10th.

If it was you in the same position would you honestly say " No Sod it I'd rather stay and play against Crystal Palace??"

Hes only doing what all the better players would do and I for one would just like to thank him for his time at Reading and the great goals he scored for us.

Good luck Gylfi.

So have text subscribers heard anything yet? I understand that's 'the only way to get all the latest news first' (well the official site certainly isn't)!

I expect us to finally sign Zurab to sugar the pill a little. Not sure what else, if anything, I expect. I'm certainly underwhelmed at the thought of Fryatt - is he any more prolific at Leicester than Church, Long or Hunt are for us?

Chin up, apparently we've made an offer to W&E for Fiston Manuella.

If this had been a week earlier and we'd signed Pitman from Bournemouth I wouldn't have been so gutted. At least one of my favourite young players would've been at the club then.

Went inside for 2 months for assaulting a player. Excellent, get him and Marlon King and that will be a dream pairing. Just like the Reading way.

chandog . I like the rumour of matty fryatt as he is a proven goalscorer at this level.

Is he though? 22 goals in 113 appearances for Leicester at Championship level. At league one level he averages about a goal every other game.

22 in 113 doesn't suggest to me he's much better than Long Church or Hunt. We need another player up there if we're going to play 4-4-2 regularly now, but I don't think it's at all a given that Fryatt will improve our first 11.

Just massive disappointment today. Unless something happens before 5pm to really capture my imagination, this is going to be a watershed moment in my feelings about the club. Who can care that much about a club determined to retard themselves so comprehensively?

Anyone who thinks Madjeski will spend a penny (lol) of this £6mil on a new player is sadly deluded.

Considering the economic climate - he's considering weighing up another 5 million pound statue for his garden.
