IMAMATEOFJOVSKY It's a bit like your wife saying to you that she's interested in another man and wants to go on a date. Then the date doesn't go to plan and she wants to come home again.

It's funny that he admits she did want to go on the date though.

Martinez has been lined up also but Wigan might get there instead.

TBM If players can demand they are placed on the transfer list and move clubs then why cant managers!?

Managers can do it, players can't.

You seem to be confused !

The huge difference is that clubs hold the registration of players and a player cannot go near another game of football without the club that holds their registration agreeing (that includes friendlies, charity games etc etc - internationals are an exception of course)

There is no registration system with managers so a manager can just resign from his job and take a different one exactly as you or i could. The only thing that stops them going is their contract and that can always be got round.

Not so sure that the Ferguson situation is a closed book - he obviously wants to talk to Reading - do Peterborough want a disgruntled manager in charge next season ? -I wouldnt be surprised to see a few more twists and turns on this one before any final announcement is made

I can't quite decide if the marriage analogy works. Peterborough not allowing Ferguson to talk to Reading means he is getting screwed. But if he is getting screwed then the wife analogy probably doesn't work. It's a conundrum.

Ferguson can force a move, just as Rodgers would have to. Means a difficult situation, persumably talking formally to Reading could be a sackable offence, it's a risk if you're not 100% sure you are gonna get the job.

On Ferguson, my main concern is, like Roberto DM and other previous MK managers, the budget they have had to operate on compared to their rivals has been massive. I do think a new manager would have a fair chunk of money to play with, but compared to other teams in the league it won't be a huge amount.

I do think it will come down to who they think is the best man for the job, rather than who is the cheapest option.

Exciting times, massive choice for NH/JM, crucial we get the right man now.

A thought that comes to mind as much as I would like Ferguson here is that would Madejski employ someone who jumps ship like the judas Pardew did to us?

I just remeber Madejski going on about how disloyal Pards had been and how Madejski was thinking of quitting - pot & kettle me thinks but as having seen McGhee & Pardew do it to us it's about time it worked in our favour!!

Of course! It's football, it been going on for years...it's only the likes of the man-child Spacey that gets his knickers in a twist that anyone dare leave Reading FC in pursuit of furthering their career....the same goes for any other football club where a player or manager dare have a career move. Sure, if it's your club, it's going create wounds, but if Ferguson is who the club wants...fluff it, get him in.

Come on Madejski, you've shown the cleavage, don't be a prick tease...

P.S. I think this is the first time we've agreed on anything. Woohoo!

Reading don't do it that way. I mean, we wouldn't be making someone jump ship. Like when we employed Coppell, he already had a job too remember, but we didn't do anything underhand there. Out of interest, does anyone know where the story about us approaching Posh came from? Was it from us (I doubt it) or from Posh, or from Fergie Jr?

theres goes all hope of getting ferguson then!

Shortlist of four then, so who do we reckon? Rodgers, Pardew, Tisdale, and Dolan perhaps?

I reckon Rodgers, Tisdale, Pardew, Poyet maybe.

Can't see it being Dolan, for the sheer reason I think they'd have appointed him already.

Is Pardew likely to be on the short-list? I dont have a problem with it but I would be surprised.

I'd be amazed - but Skybet do indeed have have as joint favourite with Rodgers!

Time to forgive and forget?

There are quite a few managers I would prefer to Alan Pardew but I still think he would be a lot better than some of the others suggested (like Hoddle).

I hope that we go with the likes of Rodgers, Martinez or Ferguson, however - new managers with a lot to prove.

As for compensation £1M really does not sound a lot to me when compared to the profits the club has made over the last few years. If we make the wrong managerial choice then it could end up costing millions in the long run so I really hope Sir John does not go for the cheap option and is prepared to pay what it costs for the right man.

Royal Rother I think you can forget Curbishley. Current Skybet odds:

7/4 Pardew
7/4 Rodgers
9/4 Ferguson
12/1 Irvine
14/1 Dolan
16/1 Curbishley

7/4 Pardew
7/4 Rodgers
5/2 Ferguson
9/1 Dolan
10/1 Hoddle
12/1 Irvine
16/1 Curbishley
16/1 J Collins

Money for Dolan and Hoddle today then one must assume. And John Collins who I'm not sure I've seen on the lists before. Anothee free agent having left Charleroi in May - he has been touted as likely next manager for Monaco but is actually someone I could see coming here if that doesn't come off...
