From Despair To Where? In the 30 years I have been watching football, in all official statistical sources,
rebounds scored from a missed penalty have NEVER been recorded as successful penalties regardless of
who puts in the rebound, but one again, everyone else is wrong and Snowball is right.

And what was the off-side rule back in the day?

And remember when there were no subs?

NOTHING to do with right and wrong.
This is to do with how I wish to view something.

IMO, if a penalty is taken, and no other team-mate touches the ball
and the ball goes in, the player "scored from a penalty"

He didn't score from open play (IMO) or a free-kick from outside the box,
he scored a scruffy, horrible penalty.

I feel no inclination to have dirty white wool on my back or go baaa.

Ptolemy v Copernicus?

Descartes v the Church?

Once upon a time black people were called n------- and were "known to be" inferior.

They weren't, and they aren't. Someone had to turn "everyday knowledge" around.

From Despair To Where? Snowball, serious question. Are you Autistic? I only ask because I have 3 autistic children and I see your kind of logic and social skills a hundred times a day from my children.

Maybe then YOU have a mental problem?

Snowball - Autism is a gift but can be a fcuking annoying one at times. I understand exactly what From Despair To Where is getting at.

I'm also uneasy at your classification of it being a "mental problem".

Also big LOLs on the penalty debate. It really pisses me off when you see sloppy journalism such as "Gerrard missed a penalty" when, in fact, it was a fine save. Likewise when a rebound is scored it's NOT a penalty.

Piles = a pain in the ass

Snowball = a pain in the ass

But why do people always feel the need to impugn someone's sexuality, intellect
mental state, just because someone wishes to stick to their guns?

I'm am UTTERLY uninterested in what other people think of someone scoring
a rebound from their own penalty kick. it's so damn trivial.

I'm happy that they believe what they believe, even if they don't think for themselves.

We could argue about whose goal it is if the goal-bound strike just touches a team-mate,
who should "get" the goal, the striker or the last touch? And argue about whether, if a
ball touches a defender it's an OG, or argue about whether a Kebe run that forces an
OG is an assist.

but WHY argue? When did you see anyone on here actually change their mind?

If people don't like my stats, then ignore them. Freeze me out. I couldn't give a sh!t

I just know that the more you come at me, the more determined I am to stick.

Autism IS a mental problem.

That is an issue with brain function.

I wasn't implying (and please be clear on that) a mental ILLNESS.

BTW, my grown-up son is very intense, and some have wondered if he has mild Asperger's

276/0 = infinity

The maths thread on AE (LOL)

If the keeper saves a penalty it isn't a miss as long as someone taps in the rebound

Reading scored 10/10 penalties last season

Noel Hunt assisted Jason Robert's goal even though he didn't win the penalty and Roberts didn't score the penalty anyway

85% of penalties are scored

^^ If i'd said any or all of these things then you might have a point ^^

Typical mis-representation, you moron, of what was actually said.

I have said that if a player takes a penalty, the keeper saves and the same player follows up,
then IN MY OPINION, that player has "scored from a penalty."

I ALSO said, that if a different player follows up then the penalty WAS missed.

I appreciate the subtleties of the English Language are beyond you, but do TRY.

Reading scored 10/10 penalties last season

Reading DID score 10/10 penalties last season. The ten I found.
They also missed three and I posted and SAID, "Correct me."

Noel Hunt assisted Jason Robert's goal even though he didn't win the penalty and Roberts didn't score the penalty anyway

You really are stupid, vindictive and mis-representative, aren't you?

I award a Major Contribution for winning a penalty, or taking a major part in a goal.
That is USUALLY the final pass to a goal-scorer, but also includes things like Kebe's
pitch-length run, Kebe forcing an own goal, Harte cross making Kebe's goal-bound
header that Church touched before it crossed the line, AND such things as Hunt's great
flick which forced the defender to foul Roberts.

I also award a HC for winning a penalty whatever happens to the penalty.

It pleases me greatly that stupid, narrow-thinking w@nkers cannot understand that.

Your tourettes style outbursts only serve to underline the fact that you've been proven wrong more than any other poster on this board (even Ian Royal).

Well he hasn't has he, he's missed it. That's why you don't see "Roberts (pen)" after his name at the Bristol City game.

Even the simplest of football fans can grasp that concept - why can't you?

In all these petty playground tit-for-tat discussions there is one common denominator (the numerator is quite often different). What is it?

Let's see if Snowball can be correct for once.......

It depends how you classify the word problem. If you apply the same logic to your conversation around penalties scored I guess I'm never going to win this argument.

Cheese, Autism is a mental "issue", let's say "unusual or atypical brain-function"

In the majority of cases, that functionality or lack of "typical", ""normal" (as in population norms) functionality causes living problems.

Do we really have to, every oxf*rd time we post, pick through the minutiae?

75 Gorkss
69 Harte
65 Le Fondre
60 Cummings
56 Kebe
55 Karacan
53 Leigertwood
49 McAnuff
49 Hunt
46 Church
34 HRK
30 Roberts
30 Connolly
30 Mills
25 Griffin
24 Tabb
20 Manset
05 Klhumalo
04 Cwyka

Note these totals are not evened out for minutes played

Points awarded as follows.

10 Scoring a genuine "solo" goal, ie no assist awarded
5 Scoring a Goal
5 Scoring a Penalty
5 Clear-Cut Assist
5 Winning a penalty that goes in either straight off or after a save/rebound
4 Winning a penalty that gets missed by another player
3 A Major Contribution, eg: brilliant cross by Harte, Kebe heads for Goal but Church scores
2 Lesser Contribution noted in dispatches (eg Kebe-Karacan interpass to set up cross for a goal)

Defensive

5 Points to the back 5 for a clean sheet
3 Points to 2 central midfielders for a clean sheet

Hey Ian I LOVED your comment on the guy scoring a penalty from a header.

Changed your tune recently, eh?

Not up to your usual standard I am afraid. There is far too much subjectivity in this.

What constitutes 'brilliant' or 'major' or 'lesser'.

Stats based on analysis of facts I am comfortable with but as soon as the actual 'facts' are tainted by subjective judgement then the analysis becomes flawed.
