We are now reverting to direct long ball.

Royal_jimmy
Lower West
Royal_jimmy McDermott is the right man at the wrong time. We needed a manager who favoured the passing style to great effect. We are now reverting to direct long ball. Should have gone for a young manager from a league 1 team. Complete waste of time.

Care to name one?

Hasselbaink before he went to QPR, Justin Edinburgh who is doing a great job at Gillingham and the legend Parky who has done a great job getting Bradford to the League cup final, FA cup quarters and promotion from league 1 in the past 3 seasons.

Right-o. So in one breath you don't want long ball and in the next you want Parky in charge. Make your mind up!

PS we're not playing "long ball".

Can't believe people are still claiming we're abandoning some joyous, slick style of football in favour of a 1980s Wimbledon. It's just not true.

We were RUBBISH under Adkins. The football wasn't good to watch at all.

If you watch a Reading game these days it's simply untrue to suggest our centre-halves sling it every time they get the ball. McShane is a footballer who tries to get the ball down and play through midfield yet people still come on here after every game saying we only hit it long. No we don't.

Reading reached number 2 with Clarke and I think the highest position BM has reached is 11th?

Now if you had a record that reached number 2 it certainly would be a bigger hit than number 11 in the charts.

Yeah, for a short period Reading were good under Clarke. Shame it didn't last though. Can't dine out on performances of yore, if you lose it and can't get it back, you run the risk of losing your job.

That's how it works.

We were occasionally good. And as much of the time he had a team with quite a few youngsters and a club drifting towards administration and no one in charge .

We had been playing like shite for ages. Then he wants permission to talk with another club. He lost the players, the fans and the board. He had to go.

So there is no point just cherrypicking a spell of a few games where we played well under him. Past form doesn't keep you in a job, current form does. To argue anything else is just silliness imo.

But i'm glad we both agree he had lost it.

Even the reigning Premiership winning manager "the chosen one" ended up getting deselected by the club he served so well.

Haven't yet seen his successor winning any cups nor charging up the league yet...........

However, they appear to be playing better football and have the fans back onside.....sound familiar?

BM reached 1st and when it counted. HTH

Clarke was given more games to get back (8) than he actually had us playing well for (7).

A draw at home to Fulham, a loss to Huddersfield, a loss to Palace - you better hope they don't get beaten at Brighton tonight - as BM might be out of a job soon.

SC had a short spell where the team wasn't doing so well - BM is currently having a spell of poor form and looking at your run in - it isn't the easiest is it? So by EPs reckoning BM will be out of a job should they not do very well in the remaining fixtures.

SC's last 8: W1 D3 L5 Points: 6
BM's last 8: W2 D4 L2 Points: 10

So Brian has nearly double the amount of points that Clarke had during his run of poor form that cost him his job, and that's league only - Brian has also won 2 cup games during that period.

Also, it's worth noting Brian hasn't gone to speak to any other clubs and left his position untenable during the last 8 games.

Agreed. If results don't pick up once he's past his grace period of being a new manager, we would seriously have to evaluate his position. I'd give him the rest of this season, a summer transfer window and half of next season to assess. That's if he doesn't wander off to talk to another club before that amidst a string of poor form.

No we weren't, we were utterly terrible. And don't bother producing an example of a time when we played well as I shall just ignore it.

But yes, troubled times at the mill during Adkins reign, that is a point worth making.

But what about PPG this season? Even Burnley had a poor run of form this season. Do we judge Dyche on the poor run or where they are now?
