All back for pre-season training today then. Except those who did international duty and have an extra week off.

McCleary and Hector won't be back though until towards the end of July due to Jamaica's involvement in Copa America and the Gold Cup.

Nameless
ParkRoyal I find it very hard to believe that either Adkins or Clarke would have agreed to accept the job without a contractual agreement in place re funds available for players etc?
But why the owners are so anonymous is amazingly poor PR on their behalf.

I'd be amazed if any owner ever gave a contractual commitment to a certain level of funding.
Unless a manager gave a contractual commitment to a certain level of results....

But surely the starting point has got to be -'here is the job and this is what you've got to work with i.e. a budget'
- you have x amount to spend and more if you can off load some of the high earners that you don't need - you just need to operate within these parameters'.

Then a committment from the mgr re what he could achieve would be appropriate - I would say

I assume Pog has extra time off? He was in the hotel today in jeans, not involved in training.

Looks like Ex Rep of Ireland, Blackburn, WBA star Stephen Reid is set to join Reading's back room staff.

There was a time when a pair of jeans were just a dream for Russians.

urz13 Obviously Sa will be on fairly low wages, but if we're spending over £1m on him then that's an encouraging sign that the financial side is starting to improve

Not if that's our only money for transfers!

Not sure that matters tbh. It's all about the quality we bring in, not how much it cost to bring them here.

Sa and Pog up front with Cox and Samuels as back up is not at all bad for the Championship

A full uninjured season from Pog and he ought to get 12-16 goals.

Sa, if he trains hard, gets a full uninjured season, and doesn't have issues, could threaten the league top-scorer spots.

I wonder what price he'll be?

Now just find a way to get the wingers to make decent crosses...

Awfully random speculation here.

..Samuel, if he works hard, says fit and becomes world class could score over 30 goals this season.

Alternatively Sa could turn out to be a heap of toss. Pogrebnyak got booked as often as he scored last year. Samuel hasn't even played in the Championship yet.

Charles Watts ‏@charles_watts 9m Still no announcement on Sa. Looks like the wait will go on. But believe there could be other positive #readingfc news coming soon.

Not likely to be any official announcement on Sa until international clearance is received which will probably take a few days to happen.

Other positive news is probably confirmation of the next horrible massacre of hoops we'll be wearing for next season.

Shall we squeeze another two pages out before any official annoucement comes? I'll plump for McShane.
