Ian Royal Church and HRK both have proved themselves far more effectively at Reading than Marcus Williams. Making them a better back-up option. If Harte was second choice, he'd be a much better option comparatively than them, he isn't though. He's first choice and is a big weak spot going forward and defensively. He wasn't even doing the non-pace related defending right or putting in good set-pieces saturday. He had no redeeming feature.
All much of a muchness when it comes to being a good option though. Can't see Church scoring hatfuls just as much as I can't see Williams stopping them conceding at the other end. HRK as a striker may work, but until BM puts this into practice we don't know.
Agree about Harte - I think BM will persevere though for the first batch of games. If we still have 1 or 2 points after Barnsley he may have a rethink. I'm just as concerned with Griffin though - same problems with pace as Harte and less to offer on set pieces. But both were cheap buys at the wrong end of their careers because that's all we can afford - I think we had value last year but this season may be one too many for both of them at this level.
