bracksroyal10 Anyone know why Luis Enrique has suddenly emerged into the picture at all?

Not too sure I would want him in charge at this stage of the season. I think Dolan should stay on until the end of the season certainly doesn't seem like a Terry Connor of last season.

But Terry Connor didn't seem like a Terry Connor when he was appointed .... :D

I don't agree with the idea that Dolan should stay on.
Having sacked the manager I think it is imperative that the new guy has these upcoming games to weigh up the squad.
If we don't do it that way and appoint somebody in the summer it is much more difficult to assess the merits of the players already here and the transfer window soon closes.
Also in those circumstances there is probably too much input from existing staff when what we presumably need is somebody who can take a fresh look and not be influenced by those brought up in the old way-Dolan for example has had similar experiences as Brian and one would expect that he is in the Reading long-ball school.

That may not be the case but, as another poster said, the ideal way surely is for there to be a consistency of style at all ages which becomes the "Reading Way" of playing.
The best team in the world does it that way,as have Ajax famously, but you get the impression that we don't,or at least play a passing game until you get in the first team and then it all changes.
It would be interesting to hear the comments of somebody like Pearce who has come through our system and is one of the worst "offenders" when it comes to wellying the ball into no-man's land whereas you see with Mariappa and Morrison who have come through at other clubs that they look much more to play a pass.
Cummings was like that when he first came but it has since been knocked out of him..

Just heard that Appleton has been sacked from Blackburn after 67 days. Ridiculous, and we're worried that AZ might be as bad as Roman? At least we don't have the Venkys

Is it wrong to want the spanish guy in for purely non football reasons?

Ideal Yeah yeah, we should instantly start playing like Spain and Barcelona, that'll bring us instant success with the players available to us!!!

Where you totally miss the point (what a surprise) is by use of the words instant and instantly.
I was talking about playing in a particular style over the long term.
Like Swansea would do for me.

Btw, look at the Leigerwtood stat. Read that, weep and f*ck off Reading fans 8)

I believe he is gay actually. First openly gay manager in the English League, let alone the Prem?

Wowww - he IS fit!

From Wiki - After retiring from football, Luis Enrique lived for a while in Australia to practice surfing. He took part in the 2005 edition of the New York City Marathon, finished the Amsterdam Marathon in 2006, the Firenze Marathon in 2007 and the Marathon des Sables in 2008, while also entering and finishing Frankfurt Ironman in 2007. He was supposed to take part in the Klagenfurt Ironman in July 2008, but eventually declined due to his Barcelona manager engagement

Adkins Facts:
- He'd be the best qualified manager Reading have ever appointed. 4 promotions, that is 4 times as many as Coppell had under his belt before taking the Reading job.

- Southampton are 4 points clear of the drop zone, with Wigan having a game in hand on the Saints. When Adkins left they were 3 points clear and everyone was on even games.

Yes, sacking your manager with few games to go certainly seems like a smart idea!

It certainly fires a warning shot to all the other Championship teams of our intent next year.

I thought Dolan said he wouldn't take the job permanently because he's Brian's pal and it wouldn't be right.
