RoyalBlue Normal service is resumed and we are now back in the relegation zone.
It was clear to the world and his wife that McDermott's objective over the summer had to be to make sure he signed not ordinary 'squad players' but several players who were literally in a higher league in terms of ability, quality and performance than those that we already had. No one outside of the club is likely to know how much money he had at his disposal but performances and team selection to date would suggest that (with the exception of Shorey) he failed to achieve that objective. We are now paying the price for that failure.

My point exactly. For whatever reason his summer signings have proved to be awful. They're either just crap or he's suddenly decided they don't fit his style of play.

Caskeys Lovechild Anyone calling for McDermotts head, is an ill informed oxf*rd, with zero understanding of football, or management. We shouldn't even be in this league. You DO NOT penalise managers for over achievement in the previous period in business, football is no different.

Haag Royal If anyone on this thread saw us last year scraping wins against the run of play home and away they would agree 100% with the previous post. We should not be in this league, the players are trying their hardest but are just not good enough, ditto the manager and probably the owner. It is not their fault. Have you ever been in a job that you are simply not up to? it's the same. Even Sir Alex would have the same problem with this set of players.
When we went up with SSC the first thing he sorted out was the defence. He did not want another Cyrstal Palace 0-9 type of score. He built from the back. We are trying to build from the front.
We were promoted at least one and maybe two years too soon. But we are where we are so enjoy it and hope when we go down we will re group and have another go.
Also AZ paid a certain amount of cash for a certain team. A good Championship team. That is what he bought and that is what he got. He did not over pay and did not over invest. If you buy good Championship players you will eventually end up in the Championship. That is not rocket science.
Anyone who even wonders why we are where we are obviously never saw a run of games last year. Because in essence it is the same team.

SPARTA Martin O'Neil has offered his resignation to the Sunderland board - Talksport
I'd feel less dirty wanting BM out if we could get MoN.

We do not have the willingness of the owner (see the summers signings) to get us out of this.

What bollocks. If you were at the fans forum with BM a few months ago you would have heard him say that AZ had a few suggestions for players and BM and NH told him that wasn't on and they need to be left to their own devices. AZ heeded that advice and put full faith in BM and NH. They have had total support.
