Decent flag, Oman..... and I reckon the Megastore would do a roaring trade in the sale of kanjars..... they'd certainly go down well in Y25.

Remember how excited everyone was about Anton coming into the club and what has happened since then. To be honest I preferred the stability of the Sir John era to the uncertainty of now. Who ever these Omanis are they aren't going to inject any significant amount of money into us especially due to are recent form. Unfortunately I can't get enthusiastic about the ownership. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah thanks in the main to McD. If you're trying to say the money TSI LOANED the club for Roberts was the sole reason we went up, then you're deluded.

The only problem with the SJM era is that it's gone as far as it can, and we would have to sell a top player every summer to stay afloat. Sadly we are now one of a number of clubs who need to gamble on foreign ownership and hope for the best in order to have any chance to push on and try and establish ourselves in the top flight.

We were a completely different side when Roberts came in, and he wouldn't have come in if it wasn't for AZ's money, so Royal Ginger is a lot closer to the mark than you may wish to accept. Until then we were only looking at a mid-table finish. The table and the previous results more than back that up.

it was the main reason - we would not have gone up with Alf and Hunt up front in the second half of the season. Roberts' effective hold up play was perfect for the root one lump it up the pitch tactics we employed.

I'm not denying we needed someone like him to hold the ball up etc - but too many people have used Roberts as the SOLE reason we went up and that it was because of the money TSI put in for him - which we have to pay back - while he has now been injured for months and months - that it annoys me that McD isn't given the praise he should be. That's all.

Agree, not the sole reason, but he was the missing link and he changed our season for us. No one else on SJM's budget would have done that - in my opinion. As for McDermott getting the recognition he deserves, he's had plenty tbf. His football was ugly but effective, but what would we have been saying about it had Roberts not come in and we hadn't finished top six - as we didn't look like we were going to? You know our support, questions would have been asked. Our bond with him would have stopped us short of calling him out, but still.

Anyway, back to topic. The sooner this is announced the better. The club needs the feel good factor back!

Yeah but surely Roberts was only as effective as McD coached him to be? Anyway, yes, we deserve to know one way or the other soon whether this Omani takeover is going to happen and what the potential new owneer/part owner's ambitions for the club are. But I won't hold my breath, we're only the fans.

Roberts had pace and the ability to hold the ball up. All McDermott did was tell him to go and play his game. That's what Roberts has done right through his career, from Bristol Rovers through to Blackburn. Brian basically brought in the one player that suited what we were crying out for, and told him to go and do his thing. If you're that keen to praise Brian, then it should be for bringing Roberts in in the first place. He usually just waits to see how good the opposition is before signing one of their players.

LOL - that's true!!

Sounds to me as though the current players don't like Adkins' tactics and can't play how he wants them to, to any great degree. Reminds me of Rodgers dropping Matt Mills when he said he didn't understand what Rodgers wanted of him....

The TSI loan didn't just go to fund Roberts remember, it also kept Kebe at the club and enabled us to bring in some vital cover in the shape of Mullins, Connolly and to a lesser extent Cywka.

I think we might well have had a sniff of the play-offs without those players but no way would we have been anywhere near the top 3 or 4 without that TSI influence... just a shame it's all been toilet since :(

Pfft, revisionism.

TSI have helped us sign players we would never have been able to get under Madejski.

And AZ personally intervened to try and bring Sissoko

His encyclopaedic knowledge of football always working for the benefit of the club...

He's still a free agent too,for some reason

Not suggesting that it was the only reason, but after they got involved we went on to win 17 games from 19. The confidence, the feeling of progress and of course the inclusion on Mr Roberts all contributed.

I just want it to be over and done with. I hope the Omani's are reliable and come in soon as I'm getting more and more nervous about next season. Sod promotion this season, lets just hope whats done is sorted so we dont have any points deductions, investigations and crap

Madejski - Wants out, is losing money through the nose. Has what he wants (the knighthood) and just wants the club sold. Fair enough hes taken us from a dark place whatever anyone says into a very positive future... as long as he makes the next move wisely.

Zingarevich - Havent a clue whats going on with him. Really warmed to him, but hes gone cold on the deal I reckon. This may be his fathers doing rather than Anton's. This point is fair enough. If his father doesnt want the club, its his money, why should he buy the rest of it. However he will probably make a bit of a loss.

TSI - Who are they? This is the single most concerning part of this deal and what I dont like. I'd rather the club was bought by Anton solely than what is a corporation. They could effectively asset strip the club and move assets over to TSI, such as the ground. This has been done before (Portsmouth) but also to benefit organisations (Woolworths Online department was moved to a seperate entity before the company was liquidated). I'm also concerned about Chris Samuelson. What part does he play? Will he be involved with the Omani's too? Is he controlling the club? Google him and you'll understand why. I do question whether or not its him and not Anton who the fans should be frustrated at.

I now think Samuelson is probably there to stop AZ's wild dreams from wrecking everything - for instance Sissoko would have bankrupted us

(Woolworths Online department was moved to a seperate entity before the company was liquidated). .

Not sure that is right, it might have been a separate part of the group but it was gone in the liquidation.

On 26 November 2008, the trading of shares in Woolworths Group PLC was suspended and the Woolworths and Entertainment UK subsidiaries entered administration.[4] Woolworths Group PLC also entered administration on 27 January 2009.[5] The administrators Deloitte closed all 807 Woolworths stores between 27 December 2008 and 6 January 2009 resulting in 27,000 job losses.[6]

On 2 February 2009 it was announced that the Shop Direct Group had purchased the Woolworths and Ladybird names and these would survive as a brand within the internet based shopping company.
