roadrunner There's a lot of grass to aim for tbf. If their kicking often led to goals scored then I'd agree, but they welly the ball, it stays in play and people say they are good at kicking a ball. More interested in a kepper that is a good shot stopper, commands his area with confidence and is reliable.

So McCarthy > Federici.

Yep, and with Hahnemann being instructed to aim at someone stood 2 yards from the touchline, we either created a good attack or it went out of play. He must have created dozens of attacks that led to goals but Some people were just too blinkered to see that and just whinged that he was shit at kicking because so many went out of play.

He's done excellently since he came in, definitely has to keep the shirt.

I really want to see Andersen play. He's played loads of games and even won an award. However, McCarthy has been excellent.

I haven't seen many games with Federici in goal but I know the opinion is split on him. We've been hearing for a long time now how Hamer, Anderson and now McCarthy are quality young keepers, and it's good to see McCarthy now showing it. I took in my first games for over a year recently and was very impressed by the boy. He's very assured, calm and looks a good shot-stopper. It's early doors but he looks a real prospect.

Spot on and the depressing thing is that this point is STILL lost on too many silly fans who think 'keepers merely aim for the green stuff in front of them.

The lad just gets better and better.

Three really good saves today when Harewood was given too much room. Feds had better watch out - no longer can he be seen as an automatic choice in goal.

There's no way that Fed is going to walk straight back in the side now without a dip in form from McCarthy.

an excellent problem for MaccyD to have in front of him.

But then.......... with our makeshift defence being so frugal over recent weeks also....doesn't that raise the same conumdrum?

I guess at close season (with the emergence of McC) it could see the departure of one or two of our payroled reserve keepers Hamer/Anderson etc

I hope this won't be a repeat of what happened a few seasons ago regarding Hahnemann. He was brought straight back into the team as soon as he was fit to play, after Feds had been performing quite brilliantly (remember the goal against Cardiff?!). McCarthy to stay in goal please. 8)

Or Feds for decent money with Andersen / Hamer as back up / on loan.

^^^ this.

We know we need to sell again this summer. I'd sooner lose Federici than say McAnuff, Kebe..

this could benefit us greatly - the likelihood is that Federici is sold/wants to leave in the Summer (assuming that we have no crazy promotion business) then these few games get McCarthy first team experience ready for stepping into Fed's boots. (figuratively speaking, pedants)

I thought Kish and Bryn were excellent against Man City and have always felt that the former should be in our side whilst I'd give the latter another 12 months now (who cares how old someone is if they can still play 3 different positions :| )

Mills will come straight back but I'll be seriously p*ssed off if Ivar gets ahead of these two when he should now be behind both.

I am more worried that we sell McCarthy and keep useless Skippy.

As Thou Voice has rightly and correctly (as evvver) been saying for months that Skippy is crap. McCarthy has turned the team around with his goal keeping abilities and not prone to Fosters can's full of mistakes match in, match out.

If Skippy ever wants to play for RFC again he has some biiiggg boots to fill, and those are McCarthy's.

Strip Skippy of No.1 now and give it to the man who deserves it, McCarthy.

Do You See?
