Please, noone finds your stats interesting. Stop them
Wrong. Lots of people find them interesting, but presented in a strange way. Often a large post is written, when a short one would get the point across.

The point Snowie made is a valid one. There is no way to buy yourself success. You need a team hungry for success and on the up. There is nothing wrong in waiting and see how things are going first part of the season and at christmas exchange the players whom arnt good enough for the premiership.
But he just showed some data. He didn't actually make a point using it. You've made a point out of it, which makes it marginally more interesting.

Why don't you take him out for dinner, and you can discuss Snowball there.

Meanwhile, let's get back to pretending Glyfi will be wearing a Reading shirt next season.

Our current squad is carrying a fair bit of deadweight which may mean we see more movement than others anyway (no idea how much deadweight they had though). I wouldn't be surprised to see most of the following move on in the summer:

Griffin
Howard
Manset
Gunnarsson (into a coaching role by the sounds of it)
Bignall
Sheppard
Morrison
Williams
Antonio
Baseya

Plus some of the youngsters who've made less of an impact, such as Gage, Raymond, Walcott, MacDonald and Losasso. The you'd have a few more with question marks over them, like Church, Mills perhaps and D'Ath and the current loan players.

The low cost gambles and kids may stay on depending on their contract situations, the clubs view of their potential now and interest from other parties, but we're going to have to name a 25 man squad for the upcoming season. Those outside of it are going to be less involved than this season I'd have thought as they won't be able to play in a league game. The cost of keeping them on might not be an issue, but for the morale of the squad and their repective careers, keeping them here might not be the best way forward.

Interesting times though.

Interesting choice of words from Brian on RW - http://www.readingfc.co.uk/articles/201 ... ~1,00.html saying "the 5 lads that we've GOT" when discussing players coming in.

He does then mention the players already here as "that we've already got", so perhaps a mix up of words rather than slip of the tongue..?

I reckon he's just missed of "Got in mind" or "Got on the list" in that interview, he tends to say only half of what he means a lot of the time in interviews ;)

Worth noting that the 25-man rule doesn't include under 21's - you can have as many of them as you like in your squad.

The 25 does have to include 8 "home-grown" players though but we shouldn't have an issue with that.

Agreed, but we've only got a few of the u21's that have been involved this year and would be 'free additions' to the 25.

All our 'youngsters' (Church, Kanu, Karacan etc) are now 23/24 really and so would take up places in the 25.

Add Obita, McCarthy and it's easy to achieve.

Extended-Phenotype Regarding Gylfi, can we just dream for minute? Forget the points against us for a sec;

He loves us, the team, the manager and could feasibly see us as being a team who are destined, with his help, to be a premier league mainstay with expanding stadium and financial clout. He will know no other club can match the camaraderie and team ethic, and no other fanbase will love him as much as we do.

On paper, we COULD afford him at 10m, (could it not ‘technically’ be seen as 3m, considering we sold him for 7!) and it could be justified as bringing our talisman back home. We know he wouldn’t be a gamble, he wouldn’t need time to settle and he without question is capable in the Premier League.

Maybe we couldn’t match wages (fairly, without bumping everyone up) but sometimes, wages aren’t everything?

Yeah, I know. Head in f/cking clouds. But it’s so fluffy up here.

Easy to achieve what? I'm talking about narrowing down our squad to 25 from the current number, hence why I think we'll probably see quite a few leave to stop them just being here essentially doing nothing.

Wash your mouth out.

When Raziak plays Nazi Zombies, it is the Zombies who build the barriers.

I am getting married in 3 days, I'm not going to risk that just so I can take Snowie out for a romantic dinner.

There's our current squad. I think it's interesting trying to cut that down to a 25 (plus u21's) good enough to compete in the Premier League.

I still think we're in for a busy summer.
