Best chants ever.... Reading fans start leaving with 10 mins to go, WBA fans start "is there a fire drill" 10 minutes later their end was emptying rapidly as the chant "is there a fire drill" came back to haunt them.

Maybe Jobi can ask the buses to hang on an extra 5 minutes.

That stadium is a bastard to get out of if you stay until the end. I don't tend to go too early, but leaving on 88 minutes is the difference of watching the final 5 and having to queue to get out taking another 10-15 in Y26.

Which buses? The ones that go to Bracknell / Wokingham etc parked on the right hand side?

The last time I left early was when we beat QPR with a late penalty. That was the game when Mills gave the East Stand the finger. The football was so dire that after something like the 10th aimless hoof from Mills to sail over Kebe in about 5 minutes was the final straw.

If people choose to leave early then that is their affair. Last time I checked, the Mad Stad is not part of the DRK. Get over it.

But there's at least two kinds of leaving early ... maybe more.

For the "convenience" of beating the final whistle exodus / traffic, or for some other good reason.

I'd like to say I've never left early, but in fact I once snuck out of an Ipswich game 10 mins early a few seasons ago to drive to catch a plane for a business trip.

The "reason" people might choose to leave early does say something about how they value supporting the team. "It's my right to do so" is no reason at all.

And, why should one supporter care if another leaves ?

Because of the message it gives the team and club, still trying to get something out of their efforts, if significant numbers leave early. Any supporter should care about that. We're all in this together.

Glenroyal – you have summed it up perfectly in those 2 posts without remotely coming across as rude.

I completely agree.

This season is our toughest challenge for quite some time & the players need our support. They are giving their all and they deserve better IMO. Besides the Mad Stad is somewhat of a fortress these days. We’ve only lost against Spurs, Arsenal & Man Utd in the league FFS!!

Where are ya?! Lets be having ya!!

just step down the seats!
yes it takes 20 minutes to get out if you waitfor everyone else to leave in front of you
just clap th eteam off, wait till the rows clear a bit and climb down the stand.
never missed a bus.

What if you find it all too brutally depressing and just want to get away?

I don't bother going in. I just stand outside by the buses and listen on the radio.

You take a good look at yourself and ask whether you are really cut out to be a Royals supporter, and if that doesn't work maybe seek therapeutic help?

I don't leave early to catch a bus, train or to beat the traffic.

I leave early because I want to catch the last 10 minutes of Soccer Saturday in the concourse. If I didn't I'd miss the best bits at the end of games where Geoff goes into spaz mode at the significance of every single goal. It's what proper soccer is all about and how else am I supposed to find out what my other teams are doing?

Can't see how that makes me less of a supporter than anyone else tbh.

Maybe just maybe this season defining last 10 minutes was due to the players seeing the mass exodus!

Maybe after 80 minutes of shear dross something needed to happen and the catalyse of hundreds of Reading supporters leaving early, for whatever reason, got to the players and gave them the edge to come back from 2-0 down and beat WBA 3-2……

I would never leave the ground early but can see why other might, and it is up to the individual to make their own choices…..

Thank you to those hundreds that left early, this might have just turned our season around!

:D
