2 world wars, 1 world cup Actually looking at all the saves again, McCarthy either didn't know anything about them, the shots were straight at him or too slow. Main standout pint was his poor distribution.

Feds back please.

From the liverpool forum:

Being at the match today was embarrassing

The behavior of some of our 'fans' today was awful. I was ashamed of some of them. They should be ashamed of themselves with the things they did. We won no friends there today and considering the very warm reception we received, the immaculately observed minutes silence, the joining in of some of the Reading crowd to 'Justice, for the 96, Justice, for the 96...', the signs they held up in support and the welcome signs with JFT96 on them at our entrance, it is no surprise that by the end of the game having watched how about a third of the fans behaved that the Reading crowd were hurling abuse, cans, and singing 'Always the victim, it's never your fault.' After all the good will by the end they hated us.

When questioned on it:

It started before the game outside the stadium with extremely loud bangers, not like firework bangers but 'see the flash' bangers. Then as soon as they got into the stadium they started letting off the same bangers in the crowd, then they let of the loud smoke bombs, kids were crying and frightened, frankly they sounded extremely loud, we were about 18 rows or so behind them and it was deafening so it must have been awful for the little kids there. These went off along with smoke bombs for almost the entire first half. Then as the crowd in the lower block next to the pitch got pretty much out of control doing the conga - and dragging people along who clearly didn't want to be a part of it - the stewards and police got involved and had to form a line around the fans to 'calm them down'. The ring leaders were clearly warned and they seemed to calm down until half time when people ran scared from the tunnel as the fans threw bins, beer and food all over the place. Then they were refused entry back into the stadium until they got rid of the extra beer they had and had calmed a little again.

They spent most of the game trying to wind up the opposing fans, chanting about Maggie Thatcher and eff the Tories and Southerners. They were not the usual crowd I see at away matches, they were not interested in football, they were there to cause issues and if it weren't for excellent stewards and policing then there would likely be two stories in the newspapers tonight.

The chanting got angry and nasty and families that had clearly traveled a distance (including the Scouse family in front of us, left before half time for fear it would get much worse. They were so disappointed and the dad was incandescent with rage at the behaviour now affecting his family.

Total bollox. if Feds had been in we would have been looking at a 4 goal hiding , one shot was straight at him, all the others he had to be agile and quick relex actions

Well, thought Liverpool played us off the park for the entire first half and if you throw in the last ten or so minutes as well had enough chances to have won several games. A mixture of poor finishing and some excellent saves got us the point.

McCarthy - fantastic performance but I wouldn't give him a 10. His kicking is rubbish and the decision to pass the ball to Morrison in the right back position instead of just sending it nearly cost us a goal twice. Needs to work on that side of his game for sure. The saves were outstanding though, particularly the one from Gerrard and then managing to hold the short range blast from Suarez.

Reading surprised be by how well they played for 30 min of the second half though. Much better after a dreadful first 45 and Noel Hunt could even have won it for us.

Overall, lot of work required in the summer if we're to challenge next year.

soggy biscuit Genuine question - what justice are Liverpool fans still campaigning for?

For those guilty of a cover up to be held to account through proper processes, rather than merely criticised in a report; for criminal charges to be brought where there is evidence of criminal behaviour, including corporate manslaughter charges; for the new inquests to be held

2 world wars, 1 world cup McAnuff 8 excellent excellent performance all over the place. One of the only players who looked like doing anything for us.

I really fail to see why a lot of people are rating McAnuff so highly? I thought he was very average today bar a couple of runs.
His decision making was poor, he missed placed many passes and failed to capitalise on a few chances

were you watching the same match mate?
really do not understand why so many mongs hate jobi.

Funny mate, didn't realise I said I hate Jobi, just do not understand why people are saying he had a great game

- he made a few basic errors, e.g the throw to him from Gunter ( I think ) which he misplaced out for a throw to them
- the chance where he was running at goal with ALF and Hunt, could have passed or shot, but no he done the usuall and slowed the play down by turning back inside
-He got weights by Coutinho, which is slightly embarrassing
-he tried to gain two penalties ( neither were ) when he knew he lost the ball
-with the shot he had, took far too long and lucky it got the deflection to win the corner as it was going straight into Reina's hands.

That was an awesome goalkeeping performance. Hopefully he'll stay with us. The save from Gerard late on was blinding but the one he held after that, which Goals on Sunday were raving about, was even better.

It's good to see McAnuff get some high marks from people on the first page. Tbbm was moaning about him all game, that i was beginning to believe him, but he's not a bad player, and has played pretty well all season. He covered every blade of grass.

Course they're not being serious, its just a wind up. If they are being serious they are the biggest fcuktards I've seen on this board.

Quite a good exciting game for a 0-0, spoilt only by the disgusting behaviour of the Bin Dippers.

Did anyone one else see the large group of foreigners outside the Megastore at about 2pm? There was a group of about 40 or so adults and a few teenagers. A lot of them were in the megastore buying Reading shirts and other souvenirs. They were speaking German or Dutch. I couldn't tell.

Was nice to see (if not a little odd) and I'm glad we didn't get spanked for what was Probably their first and only game.

TBM I wish McAnuff would stop throwing himself to the floor for a "penalty" and actually put the cross in :x

I just wish he would just get a cross in, period

Seriously don't get the adulation for his performance yesterday
Several opportunities went begging and he is simply not decisive when he needs to be, most obviously the chance to shoot first time late on in second half

McCarthy 10- nuff said
Gunter 7- one of his better games for us, saved us early on when he cleared off the line. Horribly misplaced one pass that could have cost us.
Morrison 5.5- this game wasn't for him. Three small, quick, skilful players up front for them. Poor positioniong. Good job they didn't exploit that.
Mariappa 6- one great block, but poor positioning combined with Morrison's poor positioning meant Liverpool broke the offside trap too often.
Kelly 6.5- some good challenges and supported McAnuff well.
Karacan 6- pretty quiet. Would probably have benefited from being in a midfield three.
Guthrie 7- really cool on the ball. Unfortunately some of his more ambitious passes didn't come off and he didn't often have a simple option because we were overrun.
McAnuff 7.5- good game. Maybe should try and whip the ball into the box rather than diving for a penalty.
McCleary 7- one of his better games.
Hunt 7- thought he had a good game, won flick ons, moved into channels well, and so forth.
Pogrebnyak 6.5- had a good game, but was quite isolated, which is the story of his season really. Good ball for Hunt's chance

Carrico 7.5- very good. Steel and a bit of quality. Hopefully he can stay fit.
Blackman 5.5- looks out of his depth, never really threatened.
ALF- no rating
