Snowball Agreed that stats don't tell the whole story but ALF was ranked 22nd in the Premiership for goals + assists combined
and that's on not a lot of minutes, on the same rank as Aguero, Sturridge, Giroud, Torres and Maloney (Wigan)
HRK was ranked 61, another who didn't get a lot of minutes, Injured Jimmy was 80th, McAnuff is ranked 7 places lower
but they are giving him 7 assists (I thought he had 9). If he had 9 he is one spot above HRK, but on twice the minutes

SCIAG Hard to argue a winger who gets 7-9 assists has had a good season? Okaaaaaaay.

Snowball Reading's Jobi McAnuff attempted 43 shots (including blocked shots) in the Premier League without scoring this season, more than any other player.
830: Reading put in more crosses than any other team. (That went well....)

Hoop Blah McAnuff isn't in the team just to clock up statistical outcomes, his role is obviously a lot more than that.

I agree, Hoop, but people like Ian Royal keep quoting his assists as if
they are "good" while overlooking his assists per minute are quite low.

I'm quoting them because they are good, not exceptional, but good. I'm not just quoting statistics out of context and in my own made up format. You can't extrapolate what a player would get over a whole season based on assists per minutes as if its somehow reliable... it's what they actually get that matters. If Kebe / McCleary / HRK were that much better they'd have played more. Or in Kebe's injury riddled case, got more assists in previous years.
If you check the links I provide you can see that McAnuff performs consistently well for across the whole division he's in as well, if he has such a poor assists to minu...yawn....tes ratio he wouldn't feature so highly in the division stats table.
I seem to recall that the main reason I quoted the last lot of stats about him, was because some utter burk tried to say he rarely touched the ball in 2009/10 and was one of our least effective players. Which was blatantly absurd.

LMAO you serious? McAnuff was such a big favourite of McDermott, (and was/is also the captain) hence why he played every game while the others were forced to always be behind him in the pecking order, regardless of performance. And Adkins was hardly going to come in and drop the captain straight away, even though he wouldn't have been wrong to do so.
All the other wingers were more effective than CrapAnuff in the time that they played, and the overall stats prove that. Case closed.

Ian Royal If you want to carry on making yourself look stupid, I'm not going to stand in your way.
And I quoted Pissed Off. Unless you are the same person. In which case LOLz @ you.
