I just don't know why the steward needed to grab his neck and push him against the wall when he was willingly leaving without any resistance (he had his hands up in a passive way).

Regardless of whether they ignored the steward or not, the steward is wrong and just wanted to exert some force on someone smaller than themselves. It's the same with bouncers as well...

If we can get 60mins of the 2nd half performance against Bolton we will easily get in the play off.

Pretty bold statement this early in the season and without seeing how the other 22 teams will play/improve and perform against us. Still I hope you're right.

The early season acid test will be on Saturday

I usually am very sceptical with things like this and usually side with the person in authority.

However, even I can see the steward is over the top. It's all about "Reasonable force".

Even if we consider that the RFC fan was being a knob before, and abusive, etc... it doesn't justify the force used at the end. As someone in authority he should remain calm and use proportional force and keeping it to a complete minimum.

I agree. If he was resisting being thrown out then by all means get a bit more physical but he was being led out. I just don't see why the steward chose to use the actions he did other than to intimidate and show off to his mates...

...which is unprofessional to say the least.

gazzer, loyal royal I can get the club involved if you so wish? Pretty sure the club would be appalled if our fans are being treated like this. He clearly puts his hands up in a non threatening manner.

Hi, thanks for the offer. I'm currently in correspondence with a Football Supporters' Federation caseworker who is looking into what the best course of action is. My guess is that I will be contacting both BWFC and Reading. Either way, I'd rather not get the police involved if possible. As long as this guy is appropriately dealt with, I don't want to see anyone getting arrested.

Out of interest if the police were to get involved and it had been found the steward used excessive force, would he receive a football banning order??

I would hope so, but think not. Although he is clearly no football fan so I doubt he'd give a toss...

Depends if the CPS applies for one. Their standard process is to ask for a FBO at every possible opportunity, but in this case they might not. Their call.

Hi there...

I have been contacted regarding your story and am writing something for the reading post on friday. we've received a comment from a spokesman at bolton wanderers.

we would like to take a photo of you (I believe you are the one in the video) and your friend (MiggyE91 as refers to himself on youtube), either today or tomorrow for the story.

Please can you let me know via 0118 9183054 if this would be possible.

many thanks

Sarah

dizzynewheights oh please. He got manhandled out of the ground. Big whoop. He wont lose his licence, probably won't even get a telling off. The video has no context, he/they can say he was being abusive/violent/whatever they like before the video was turned on. Of course it shouldn't happen but I swear you JCL shirter pricks won't be happy till attending football is indistinguishable from popping down the supermarket

Spot on.

The video proves nothing.

Perhaps the statement "I agree" or "+1" may have been more appropriate given that dizzynewheights is clearly not 'spot on'.

Ask for pictures of her first. You need to know what you're dealing with.
