Snowball Feds would've saved three

We'd have missed 4.

No Fixed Abode Whichever way you look at it. No pro keeper should make that mistake. Not even a Sunday league keeper.

Feds a couple of seasons ago was pushing for a move away from Reading. He said he wants to be in the Premier League. Perhaps this will bring him back down to earth and realise he's a good goalkeeper, but not a top goalkeeper. He always has a clanger in him.

Shame such a poor goal was the winning goal. Would have been easier to swallow for Reading fans if Arsenal had perhaps got a 3rd goal.

We move on.

Hopefully without any Australian flag waving either.

Surely he'd know if the crowd supported him by the cheer he'll quite rightly receive when he gets on the pitch on Wednesday..

A fluffed shot on goal is as expensive as a gk mistake.

Chin up Feds, it wasn't just you.

Are the opposition team awarded a goal post fluffed shot then?

It's all getting a bit silly now. I've just seen someone's created a Federici Support Group on Facebook!

Very much so, he's a strong guy but blowing it on the big stage and the emotions got to him, that's what happens when everything stops and it has time to sink in, he might appreciate the aussie flags on Wednesday, alternatively he might hate being constantly reminded of the incident, I honestly think it's best to move on.

At least it's not like that Brazilian chap came on here and said, that in Brazil keepers become outcasts at a club for a mistake like that.

A WUM or someone else who knows sweet FA about goalkeeping? Every pro keeper, yes even the top ones, will have made a Feds type mistake in a critical game(s) and if they don't admit to it they are a liar! Thing is, keepers tend to be a very honest and supportive bunch so I reckon they will all admit to it. Needless to say, that also means that every other keeper there is will have made similar mistakes.

Incidentally did Szczesny, a top goalkeeper, also not make a significant mistake in the game (albeit not quite as glaring and ultimately being cancelled out by the one Feds made)? - seem to remember several pundits suggesting he should have kept our goal out.

So yes, there is a clanger in Feds, as there is in all the other top goalkeepers.

The effect of a fluffed shot on goal can be equally significant if you end up losing by a goal. Are you saying that Archie's fluffed penalty did not cost us just as much as Feds' error?

No, you just aren't awarded a goal that you should have been

A keeper error is only an error if the ball ends up in the net but a fluffed shot would not have led to a goal in most cases. Even if Pog had hit the ball cleanly it could still have missed, or been saved.
The comparison is not a good one IMHO

It's a rubbish comparison because scoring a goal is the hardest thing in football (great cliché of course) whereas stopping the ball with the use of your whole body and hands for a shot like Federici's howler at the weekend is pretty basic.

Missing a tap in from 2 yards under no pressure would be a better comparison if you wanted to a comparison for an outfield player.

I don't think Feds will get over this until Snowball turns up at the game tomorrow dressed as a kangaroo, it's literally the only way he can show sufficient support
