The board shouldn't gave agreed to the Fulham approach then we wouldn't be in this mess ...

That's certainly worked well before.

All we're hearing is excuses for Brian. People don't want to hear excuses. They want solutions.

McDermott is doing just about as well as can be expected.

He, like everyone else, still comes out with some odd, bland and cliche ridden comments, makes some odd decisions on team selections and hasn't miraculously solved our long term inability to score goals. Anyone who thought he was going to do much different to the was kidding themselves.

He's got a task on his hands in rebuilding the confidence and getting us to find the net consistently. That isn't going to be an overnight thing but we are now creating chances and looking more likely to score. Under Clarke I don't think we looked like scoring at all towards the end, there isn't really a magic fix for that.

genome Give him some time, man. People were glowing on here after the Derby game which was less than a week ago, 1 loss in 4 (3 in 7 B-Mac games compared to 5 in 7 beforehand) and it's all doom and gloom again.

Chill out, and see where we are in a few more weeks, and if we bring anyone in. Remember he has to work with what Clarke did in the transfer window and has to gel together a bunch of loan players low in confidence, it's not his squad at all.

He's on record saying he was happy with the squad of players here, and he knew the budget (nil) ...

Let's see that full quote for context.

Saying he was happy with the squad doesn't mean that that squad doesn't need work on it before it's effective.

When you buy a chair from IKEA, you could be happy you've got all the pieces you need. That doesn't mean you'd want to sit on it until you've done a lot of work putting all those pieces together in the right way...

Anyone getting on Brian's back after a few games is ridiculous. I have always been of the opinion that he should never have been sacked in the first place as his one fault was getting a very poor squad almost inexplicably promoted and then not being given hardly any money to spend in the PL. Relegation the following season was inevitable.

It will take him a very good summer window to sort out the mess he has inherited from Adkins and Clarke (uncommitted players and too many loans). It is not that the current squad is a bad one. I think on paper the squad we had on 1st Sept was potentially one of the best ever but for whatever reason things have not gelled and this season has been a disappointment so far.

Let's hope for another cup run to make the rest of the season interesting and then judge Brian at the end of next season and see if we have made no progress.

Yeh let's see if he can recruit better players for no money while wearing a wizards costume ...

So if McDermott's such a great manager, why can't he get things to gell with the squad you say (and I don't disagree) was potentially one of the best ever?

Why doesn't he listen to the players who got the best out of Vydra at Watford and partner him with the right type of striker, instead of on his own or with an equally lightweight, albeit skillful, player?

Ian Royal He's only had seven games.

So he's a slow learner then! Troy Deeney highlighted the problem some time ago and even Dellor's realised now!

Steve Clarke didn't need a replay against Huddersfield in the cup last season.

But we did we need a replay against Bradford. Chelsea on the other hand, didn't.

Also Huddersfield should have been out of site and the red card massively changed the game.

Personally I think Huddersfield should've been more than out of sight within the first 25 minutes. 4-0 really wouldn't have flattered them.

The red card was pretty much nailed on, just like the one in the original game which thankfully we were good enough to not lose despite a referee making an error. That's possibly the sign of a good team isn't it? Good sides don't lose games on the whim of refereeing mistakes.

2-0 down, could have been 4
win 5-2, vydra hattrick, amazing scenes.
lets hope that red card was the turning point for our whole season,

I would sum up last night's match with the phrase - We got away with murder, up until the red card no one looked interested in the game at all. If that red card doesn't happen, Huddersfield are out of sight without a doubt.

Mcds teams have always been built with the main foundation of working hard fighting for everything.

Very much still a work in progress although Vydra is starting to step up for us at last.
