Umm, no they weren't? They were 17th mid-season at one point but that's not a game away from relegation.
Get the point you're trying to make - Rome not built in a day etc. - but Ferguson had already performed wonders at Aberdeen by this point; not sure Clement has quite the managerial (not assistant) pedigree to take faith from Ferguson's later triumphs.
