Well deserved win against a poor Cambridge side

Both teams will feel they could have scored more but pretty comfortable for most of that second half after the dodgy first ten-fifteen minutes

Excellent performances from Dean and the brilliant Bindon. Subs made a big difference

Well done Noel and team

Our only chance of keeping any sort of form really was keeping a great squad spirit which he has done. I can’t remember seeing such a good team spirit tbh. That’s prob why he was the only viable choice

Fitness won out but we shouldn’t have been scrambling to stay in it like we were in the first half.

Bindon, Knibbs and second half Wing were great

Smith will have better games despite the goal and Holzman probably isn’t up to this level.

Garcia looked much more interesting as a winger.

Still not convinced but happy with the win.

Great win. Rode out the first half and kicked a goal when we got the opportunity. Recovered quickly from conceding after soon half-time and a wonder goal by Smith.

Concerned by Camara going off and the absences of Craig and Mbengue, but great to see Abrefa back and Rushesha getting an opportunity. Unfortunate for Wareham not to score right at the end.

Ascotexgunner Currently 5th with a game in hand......for what it's worth.

When did we last get 9 points over Christmas/New YEar?

Think we got 12 out of 12 the extended Covid season under Bowen, including decent away wins at Preston & Fulham (Charlie Adam goal)

We managed 2 wins and 2 draws from Wigan, Posh, Cheltenham and Exeter last season

Firstly, lots of credit to Cambridge, they really learnt from the drubbing at our place and pressed us high and hard, super work rate.

On top of that they piled pressure on the flanks with Bennett playing some.great crosses in. Holzman alwo struggled on our right, not sure if against Brophy or their other fullback.

But they have very little quality upfront to score.

Contrary to what another post said, I thought Smith won a lot against Morrison.

In the end our quality told infront of goal with a couple of Knibbler tap ins against the run of play and a top quality finish from Smith.

Essentially a bottom side piling on the pressure so a top side couldn't play through the middle, but form, ability and confidence told.

Also incredible story of the steward who saved a fans life by giving him CPR after a heart attack at the ground months back. And great to hear Morro's daughter is also fully recovered after needing an air ambulance recently too.

Enjoyed that even if it waa low on good football.

Little Liam Bennett wouldn't make a bad replacement for Yiadom.in future.

Oh yes, and Deanwas magnificent. And well done to Pereira for asking the fans to give him recognition at the end.

Knibbs needs more practice from Mbengue for the win celebration. But good deputising.

I thought the football in the game was ok tbh. Enjoyed the game and enjoyed our performance

Agree Cambridge worked hard and did the right things first half but massive lack of quality in the box. Weak at the back though and we were getting through easily at the end

Typical struggling side, heads went down and they gave up hope.

Very much so. Both our goals really kicked the stuffing out of them, having been on top and looking likely, but not being able to pull ahead. And the third was just, 'well oxf*rd'.

Bristol Paul Smith is a complete donkey.

Never seen a donkey score a goal like that.

Makes up for the donkey touch when we had a 5 man break earlier in the game

We need someone like Dean in games like this....wish I knew the reason why he's not been started when Mbengue's not been around.

I do think he’s veen underused this year. Games like Lincoln etc - would have rather have seen him and Bindon at the back and Mbengue covering a Fb position where we’ve generally been weaker. And certainly ahead of Holzman and Kanu at CB

Hopefully that’ll give him and Noel the confidence to use him a bit better going forward - especially if Tyler does move on as is likely
