floyd__streete If I stick in my current job for another 6 years will I get a testimonial?

Absolutely, as long as we (20,000) can come along and watch you work every other week, shout encouragement when you do some good work and abuse when you make a mistake.

RG30 The problem with giving Murty a testimonial is if you give in to 1, then others will be demanding it when the time comes and without doubt, there a couple of Reading players who if they reach 10 years will feel they deserve it having contributed so much

WTF would this be a problem?

Is anyone being asked to sacrifice an arm, a leg or test an untried drug that might prove fatel :?

No one is even asking RFC to risk being out of pocket, just to give the fans a chance to show their appreciation of long standing servants of the club.

WTF anyone would want to place some kind of limit on such activities, given that loyalty is fast becoming a very rare beast within the game, really does beggar belief.

I sincerely hope that Murty gets his testimonial game to reward his service and loyalty. We can then pay our £20 entrance and can applaud him onto the pitch as he receives his cut glass decanter. My enjoyment will be further enhanced as the following week he hands a cheque for £250k over to the charity of his choice. If it is not a charitable activity I wont be there.

Fair enough, that's your choice and, as I've said before, if that's the majority view throughout the fan base don't be surprised if Murts opts for a longer deal further down the leagues in preference to the 12 months he's likely to get here....................as did a very good squad player called Chris Makin.

Loyalty cuts both ways and, whilst Sidwell has moaned about the perils of supporting a family on £20k? a week, Graeme Murty has just turned up and done his job season after season never giving less than 100%.

Murts is soon to become a family man himself, so, expect this to be upper most in his mind when he signs a new deal, even though he's unlikely to mention it in public.

Why do fans hold players in such high regard? Yes we go there and support them every week, but are they that special that they deserve testimonials for 10 years playing football. They are no different from you and me and we probably work a lot harder to support our families, on far less pay. It's a joke.

I reckon 50% of the blokes on this board would let Murty botty bash them given half a chance.

M-U-R-T-Y I've not looked at it at all. It'll only be sorted if and when it needs to be sorted. If anyone knows me they'll tell you I never look that far ahead.

End of.
