He should stay and be part of Coppell's Awesome Foursome!

Leroy Lita "It was a lovely pass from Harps, he was screaming at me to make that run," he stated.

This comment didn't click with what I saw, which was Lita seeing the space, ghosting into it (as Watford's defence conveniently opened up) and pointing where he wanted Harper to put it. Harper duly obliged but it looked to me like Lita was due far more credit than he was claiming.

To me he often comes across as a confused mix of Humbleness and Arrogance and this does nothing to dispel that.

You not being on the pitch know best then? I'm not saying Lita deserves no credit, but how do you know what Harper has said?

Yes I think I do. Lita had already started the run before Harper had received the ball, and he told Harper where he wanted it.

Of course it may be that Harper had previously told Lita to run through the middle because he could see their central pairing were tiring and leaving too big a gap, but no such "screaming" took place in the immediate build up to the goal.

Whatever, I just think it's rather good to hear Lita giving credit to Harper.

leroy is twice the player the shane long is. would be great if he stayed but he is not the type of player who will want to play a bit part role at our club. doyle and nunty have been producing the goods for us. there will always be friction between coppell and lita after previous problems so the its probably in the best interests for everyone concerned that we try and get the best price for him. he will be well remembered by the majority of royals as well as the rest of the players in that great season we had but unfortunetly things change, look at murts now. best of luck leroy.

Without wanting to get any further into a discussion that neither of us can prove what was said and by whom, I do think you are showing a certain amount of arrogance suggesting you think you know best.

Hmmm. Stay and become a free agent as or leave and enter a dog fight for a play off place? I know which one I would choose.

mr_number i was excited as all of us to see leroy back, and was delighted when he scored... he took it well.
however, it did seem to me that he lost the ball with almost every other touch he had (excepting the run into the corner where he maybe should have had a free kick), and missed very easy header. but very pleased to see him back and scoring again... i'm willing to put his pretty shocking first ten minutes on the pitch down to nerves/over excitement about playing in front of the home fans again.

It really wasn't an easy header. Ok he did put it far wide but he did make contact and did well to actually get to it.

He was unmarked. The ball came at a very good height.

He missed the target.

Agree, and a new contract cannot be ruled out either but I imagine Lita would want to move on in the summer.

If he stays and makes himself such a bankable target then so be it. To do this though he's clearly got to be a fantastic impact sub or get first team. We shall see.

As far as I'm concerned, you can speak for yourself as regards all aspects of that statement!

Well, he wouldn't get a contract with a prem team so that just leaves him looking for a championship club. I have a sneaky idea he'll still be at the club next season.

Leroy looked very sharp when he came on, didn't let his head drop when missing a gilt edged chance and then took his one on one superbly well. He must have been impressed by the reaction of the fans to him coming on - it shows (regardless of the thoughts of certain posters) that the majority of fans actually want him here.

Lots of people have speculated about his attitude and motivation - including myself - but the impression I got on Friday night was a player who has had a chat with the Manager since his return from his loan spell, who has said that he plans to see out his contract and who knows that the best chance he has of getting either a new contract with us or getting a decent move is by giving 100% for Reading between now and the end of the season.

Which can only be a good thing for us for the last 19 games of the season.

1stly whoever said he had a 70/30 chance with his goal is just wrong. 2 in 3 one on ones dont go in.
Also harps received the ball, lita got in position as harper turned, harper passed to where lita would be at the same time lita made his run. There was no screaming during or immediately before the move, but probably was before that.
Great to see leroy back and looking so hungry.
The personal problems are blown out of proportion and the "attitude" with the club totally made up. I like the lad,and the interview he gave showed signs of real maturity. I think he could still play a part in taking us up.

Not sure it's so clear-cut as you see it.
First of all, players want to play and the way things are at Reading at the moment Lita would be a sub.
If he went there and scored goals he COULD be a Premiership player with them next season.
If he stayed with us and didn't play much what teams would then come in for him during the summer?-probably not Premiership teams.
We will see how things pan out.

As a sub, Lita should get plenty of minutes on the pitch, because he is much much more likely to score than Long, even if his overall game adds marginly less.

he's clearly willing to come back and fight, something I wasn't certain of and his goal will do him the world of good. I still think a fresh start for both him and us would be best, but I can see that is getting less likely to happen, so as a realist I want him to do as well as possible and refind his form and keep to it consistently.

The combination of him and Matejovsky coming on for, say NHunt and Harper/Cisse, could give us our much needed plan B. Leroy seems to thrive on through balls. And he's a decent fox in the box to bang in loose balls and penalty area pinball.

I'm feeling much more positive than I have been for a while after the game on friday.
