readingbedding Curbishley is one of the best out there.
We should be able to get him to speak to us at least.

I just don't get this love of Curb's... Took up Charlton, took them down and took them back up again. Woopdeeedoo.

Yes Charlton have gone tits up since he left that doesn't necessarily make him that great.

Really doesn't do it for me.

Speculate to accumulate

The point i'm alluding to is that for two years running now we seem to have had internal strife in the team which has resulted in an end of season drop off in form / attitude. This needs pinning down and hopefully this will be taken into concideration during the selection process. The blend of hair dryer / motivation and getting the spark back into a deflated team is what is needed.

Tisdale manager/Dolan assistant for me. Think that could fit here.

You chose to ignore what a good job he did at West Ham by keeping them up and then strongly consolidating the following season despite chronic injuries.
He also kept Charlton in the top flight long enough for them to be considered as established in the Premiership and a model club for others to aspire to.
I'd say thats a pretty impressive cv.

Granted, keeping Wet Sham up was a great act but helped by the players on the pitch no end and the capitulation of the clubs around them helped greatly.

I am sorry but the guy just doesnt inspire me, one great post xmas campaign with decent players at West Ham doesn't outway the countless post xmas dross served up by Charlton. Something that we have suffered the last two seasons at Reading and something I really don't want to put up with again.

He made them stable although I would admit they always seemed to have a post-Xmas slump.

I do remember when Curbishley went thought a few Charlton fans said they were delighted as it meant they could progress....a number of managers later and 2 relegations.

Anyway he is still in dispute with West Ham I think?

Any news on Rodgers..presume if he was likely to leave us something would have been done by now because I doubt we'd want to be left waiting before Pre-season.

Possibly.... but we have had our fair share dross and heartache over the years, I think we are due a few more of the good years to balance it out.

Of course we have a few fans on here like the Charlton fans saying that Curbishley had taken him as far as he could...NO s*it lads, because as soon as he left you went backwards and now looking forward to 3rd tier football.

If Rodgers has any sense he'll stay, it'll be good for him and you and most of all us!!!

Curbishley was a guest with Roy Hodgson chatting about football and stuff.
Although he looked as though he was covered in red marker pen and they were asking Hodgson a few cheeky questions, there was not one question about Curbishley's future plans.
Is this the infamous RFC Hammond Media blackout working in order.
Yes, I think so!

They might be able to stop Curbishley answering questions but I very much doubt their power extends to stopping all and sundry from asking the questions in the first place!

loyalroyal Curbs is 100% GASH

I have my doubts about Curbishley being right for us, the main one of which is pretty irrational in that because he has been successful for a decade or more and has now had a year away from management he may have lost that spark - it often seems to happen.

But I would be perfectly happy if he were to get the job as there must be doubts about every single manager in the world - are they too big for us, would they want too much money, too young / too old, too inexperienced etc. etc.

None of us know, we just have our feelings but what I do know is that anyone who says that Curbishley, after his record at Charlton and West Ham, is a crap / GASH manager is just fcuking stupid. But I think loyalroyal has already satisfied most of us on that score already so sorry for underlining the obvious.

I think he'd prefer Sunderland, but I can also see Sunderland going for a "big name" type manager

Coppell is more likely to go to Sunderland.
But first they will get some big-name foreign manager to put them in the bottom three by Xmas.

Strachan's record is a bit patchy. Was rubbish at Coventry: took them down and got nowhere trying to get them back up. He made Southampton a good side for a while but resigned after a long spell in which they were rubbish. He did well at Celtic while Rangers were in disarray, but has been dismal up there this season. So, no thanks.

Well he's left Celtic, so that's halfway there. And he's not exactly huge club managerial material. I'm a bit ambivalent on Strachan. I really really like him, but I'm not sure he's actually that great a manager, or even if he is very good, right for us.
