Will be going to Watford when the Smith deal is done, knows the players there and had a good time last season.

With respect 2-0, it's been said a couple of times already that Watford couldn't match his wage demands.

Sounds like he maybe signed to just do a job. A bit like owusu and co. in the early stages of coppell's era.

I think he's a pretty decent goalscorer but I don't think he's really cut out for the lone forwards role that Rodgers still seems to want to employ.

I think most of his games for Watford were still as part of a front two, with Smith playing off him funnily enough.

I'd rather see someone a bit stronger, powerful and more mobile up there, although Rasiak in the squad would be great, and at £300k represents good business IF his wages aren't silly money for another squad player.

Would rather see Marcus Bent come in than Rasiak to be honest.

That's quite a good comparison to be fair, and I quite rate Rasiak too, but if Rodgers is still looking to build the squad around a 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation then I'm not sure there would be much benefit in Rasiak.

I think/hope Rodgers has realised that his 4-4-2 is more effective ATM with the players at his disposal.

But it would make sense then, if he see's 4-3-3 as his preferred system, to buy in the players to make that work as opposed to buying in players that suit a system he doesn't really want to play.

I don't think we're a million miles away from being able to play 4-3-3. A centre forward and a winger who can score us 10 goals would get us a lot closer to where he wants us to be, IMO.

Different type to Smith I would say. Probably better with his back to goal than what we've got, so he should be able to hold up the ball to give the midfield time to suppoprt.

Rasiak would obviously be more the line holder and central striker. Agree that he and Hunt could bring the best out of each other.

This really is clutching at straws, Rasiak is slower than Gunnarsson on a bad day, and is just very mediocre.

His goalscoring record suggets otherwise.

Surely the club he didn't like would be us? - he was onloan at Watford last season so knows what they're about.....which means he would have known whether he liked that club or not before speaking to them??!

My mate is a saints STH for many years and had this to say about him:

He was our top scorer two seasons ago….he’s an average championship striker that scores lots of goals but he’s a really selfish player. Not very popular with the Saints fans because of this. He’s got a really weak shot but seems to be in the right place a lot of the time.
