DOYLERSAROYALER
Gav
Royal Rother Very politely put Sun Tzu I thought.

For me, when some cretin calls the bloke who put everything in place to achieve what has been achieved over the last 2 decades a tightarse fcukwit because he won't gamble with his own money to the level said cretin thinks he should it actually makes me chuckle these days.

Whilst fans of clubs all around us are facing administration due to over-spending, plus suffering various humiliations heaped upon them by all manner of foreign owners, the fact that RFC supporters can be so incredibly and unutterably pigshit thick (not to mention ungrateful) is no longer a source of irritation to me, just a source of amusement.

+1,000,000

+1,000,000 ???? Well Gav must fall into that pigshit thick then, or has been brainwashed by the other thickos on here :D

Yes, plus one million.

Now pipe it down over there.

i know its probably been said many a time in the last few days, but i have no major gripes with JM looking at te shit state of clubs around the country at the moment, i just wish just small gambles were or are taken rather than just shut up shop and be oblivious to the downward spiral the team has been in since Jan last year. Modern day football unfortunately is not about being squeeky clean, unless you have a manager as good as Coppell, who can operate under such circumstances. They are one in a million.

Focher, what would you consider the appointment of Rodgers and the signings of Rasiak, McAnuff and Mills for roughly £3m given our financial constraints if not small gambles?

Im talking about now Ian, and mainly this transfer window and this manager.

I don't think that we actually have nothing in the pot, i think Madejski is just sick to death of seeing his money spent on failures and refuses to give anymore.

Halford= failure
Fae= failure
Seol= failure
Lita= Troublemaker
Mills= Barely played until now
Rodgers= Total failure

Of course im only assuming, but i almost get the feeling that JM has now in the last few months gone on strike to football, refusing to play ball with these big headed money grabbing twats. He would give anything to bring back the days of signings like Doyle, Sonko, Kitson, Hunt and Little, but has just fallen out totally with the game and can't be bothered, so tells the manager to get loanees to at least show he's prepared to do something.

We spent a lot in the summer. I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers spent as much as was offered him for the season then.

It's not like we have spare cash. I think the point about failed signings is very valid, but more a case of Madejski not being willing to let the club spend more money it can ill afford to lose and doesn't really have with a probable / possible relegation regardless of how much is spent.

I think there has to be something to this. I'm not sure about "can't be bothered", but certainly "had enough".

howser As Sun Tzu intimated, that as I live in the North of Scotland I would not have the "Knowledge" of the mightier more local supporters, well this may come as a surprise to those in the big town, that aeroplanes have started to fly out of the outback territory of Morayshire and are permitted to land in the motherland, after all the security checks etc...(Must stop Scottish kilted Talliban from entering the motherland) , and even Reading FC have allowed someone who lives outside the hallowed turf of Berkshire to have a membership card (had to lie about me address though, Scottish Talliban insurgent fears etc........) So visits to the egostad are more often than it had obviously been thought, hopefully we will get Television up here soon, just need a bigger dynamo in the sub-station, so will be able to watch matches on that square box thingy.

But diverse, I assume, maybe wrongly as I am unknowledgeable not living in Reading, oh newspapers will be most welcome up here next year !!, that it is now McDermott and Gibbs that are now, The Manager, Assistant Manager, Reserve Team Manager, Reserve Team Assistant, Chief Scout, Scout ??

Sad that you wasted the over extended metaphor on the wrong issue there Howser !

Anyone claiming to speak for the majority of fans is destined to look like a bit of a twit, the fact that you may fly in for some games and read the paper doesn't absolve you from that. Living hundreds of miles away presumably means you don;t work with loads of fans, meet loads of fans at Morrisons, or in your local, or down your street. No one questioned your right to voice your opinions, just your attempt to assume tens of thousands of others share them.

And Taliban by the way, and yes, we do need stronger border controls to keep the economic migrants from the northern wastelands at bay (and out of our parliament !)

Halford= failure money back
Fae= failure lots of the money back, future payments never needed as hardly played
Seol= failure swapped for Rossy,
Lita= Troublemaker only one that cost JM actual money
Mills= Barely played until now now attracting interest from other clubs
Rodgers= Total failure JMs decision to appoint

i can see where your coming from but thats not quite what im getting at! Whether he gets his money back or not, there became a growing trend at the club that everytime we payed good money for a player, they never performed, and ended up causing trouble. Whether thats just the nature of footballers, or whether the management couldn't handle them i don't know. All these signings and football in general have eroded any passion that JM had for the game in my view, and lets face it that passion wasn't exactly big in the first place.

Trouble is managers and fans demand new signings all the time, except SC, who knew much better, I often wonder who scouted some of the failures.

We did need Lita tho and love him or loather him he was important in 05/06.

Your right, it seemed we signed these playes just to appease the Reading public.

I don't think we quite appreciated at the time how much Coppell got out of such a cheap squad. It would be interesting to see the profit we've made on all Coppell signings. Strap is normally our stat man, what are our exact profits to date???

LOL! Tens of thousands!! We don't even have tens of thousands of fans!! I live a few miles from the Mad Stad btw and the only Reading fan I work with is Schards, I have no idea whether anyone in our local is also a Reading fan and I've only ever met Northern Git in Sainsbury's on the odd occasion and spoken about the state of RFC!! Other than that Sun Tzu - spot on.

we took tens of thousands to Wembley twice, we had 20k at almost all the home prem games, given the product at the right price and success we have tens of thousands, just not tens of thousands of regulars.

You wait till the FA Cup semi at wembley.

We've got a core of about 12 - 15 thousand fans plus another 15 thousand+ who aren't as avid or committed.

I'd say it's not too far off saying we've got a fanbase of at least 30,000. Don't assume that because someone doesn't go to every game they aren't a fan.

Are we seeing the start of a new trend in football?

With the current climate and Football clubs imploding will the loan system be the norm? It seems that very few actual deals have been done this transfer window by any club, maybe this is the future and buys will only be made in the summer, when players are out of contract.

You can't spend -£9m.

We spent over £2m with a committment to £3.5m.
We received something in the region of £12m. But in isolation that figure is pretty meaningless. And we probably can't rely on receiving that much of it this season, if ever.

Losing £12 million worth of assets and replacing it with less than £3 million worth is not 'spending a lot' Ian, whether you choose to accept it or not.
