Barry the bird boggler That's just Watford and Reading agreeing compenation. Now comes the negotiations with Brendan which may or may not be successful.

Don't be ridiculous. They'll have spoken to Rodgers a number of times before now.

The club wouldn't have announced agreement with Watford if agreement with the man himself wasn't already in the bag.

CLUB DISAPPOINTED AS RODGERS DEPARTS

WATFORD FC regret to announce the departure of manager Brendan Rodgers to Championship Club Reading, he leaves his position after only seven months in charge at Vicarage Road.

Following contact from Reading on Friday requesting permission to talk to Rodgers, Watford Chairman Jimmy Russo initially rebuffed this approach. Then over the weekend Rodgers expressed his desire to have the opportunity to speak to the Berkshire based outfit.
Russo said: "Following speculation over the Reading vacancy I had spoken to Brendan only last week and he had assured me that he was 100% committed to Watford FC and our plan for the future.

It's 500,000 which will lead to 1mill if promoted.

If that happens then it is well worth it.

Surely there's 1 year left on a 1 year rolling contract?

Although I don't know why we've had to pay more than the contracually obliged figure of 500K

agreed

but if its a rolling contract, and hes nearly at the end of it, a possible 1 M seems steep
or has it rolled onto year 2 already?

maybe we just felt charitable to watford

If its rolling, would it always have a year to run?

Excellent news. I really didn't think Rodgers would leave Watford, but I'm very excited by this. His whole approach seems exactly what we need.

One question for Royalee though.
Rodgers likes a passing game and many people at Reading acknowledge Harper as one of our best passers. If Rodgers plays Harper regularly will you still love Rodgers and wax lyrical about him changing your opinion on Harper being useless?

Or will that mean Rodgers is a moron who doesn't know what he's doing because Harper is sh1t?

See if he prefers Harper or Matejovsky first.

It's so nice to see we've chosen to go with a manager who believes in playing football the right way. Must have been tempting for NH and JM to opt for the higer profile Adie Boothroyd.

Don't wish to tempt fate, but yet again it looks like they've done yet another sterling job in this process. Hammond gets an awful lot of abuse on this board, but it is no coincidence that he has been a major factor in our recent success.

Watch him play both. Coppell's style of play suited neither but under the right system both could really flourish.

LOL. One question though, why is their club website saying he's gone and ours is only saying that we've agreed compensation?

Wouldn't be surprised to see him play both. Possibly with one other. Watford played 4-5-1 under him didn't they? Or am I making that up.
