Handsome Man
And Anton is going to buy us a nice new striker.

As long as he does not get to choose which one, not that impressed with the last one he chose.

Zingarevich Regarding his five goals, Pogrebnyak can be blamed the least

I guess you think the fact he couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo for most of the season was McDermott's fault

If only we could return to those far off days when we were owned by someone who knew his knowledge of the game was extremely limited :|

Handsome Man We have just got to get rid of him. Getting money for him would be the icing on the cake, but the main thing is to get him off the wage bill. He is too slow, has no first touch, doesn't score enough and is too lightweight for the championship.

And Anton is going to buy us a nice new striker.

...?

Too lightweight? I'd love to see you say that to his face...

Pav would destroy the Championship.

But he has kept his kit clean and avoided bullying a single defender all year, in a league where defenders are chosen for their ability to play football. He'd be eaten alive next year when the football is less refined.

Agreed. Being slightly bigger than average doesn't mean that he knows how to use his strength, because evidently he definitely doesn't.

He is good, however, at waiting for a defender to get near him, then move away holding his head while the game goes on around him.

Just got the mentality all wrong here IMO, great player, just not in this team or position.

He'll end up somewhere in Turkey or back in Russia.

Feel a bit sorry for him and can't believe some of the stick he gets here. What do you expect a striker to do with zero service?

Win headers, hold the ball up, run the channels, close defenders down, drop deep to collect the ball on occasions, create chances for himself...

Which pretty much describes Noel Hunt!

ALF has managed to score 12 goals with no service, what's Pog's excuse?

Pav and Roberts have both mystified me. They are good (well not bad) in the air attacking a ball in the box, but when the ball comes forward at head height (most of the time this season and last) they are total cack. Roberts doesn't jump ever and his only skill under the high ball is buying cheap fouls. Pav is slightly better and at least usually puts in a challenge. However he is bullied in the air by most centre backs IMO, he just gets bounced off. Pav is strong on the ground holding it up, drawing the defender in tight then turning them.

Long was our best target man in the last few years and he is smaller than both of them. Pav isn't mobile or tenacious enough to play the lone striker.

It's because they were always taller than their peers so never had to learn to jump when they were growing up and learning to play - compare and contrast with Shorey and NHunt who are both short-arses so have learnt how to jump and head in order to be successful.
