sheshnu Why do this if you're not going to keep it up to date? There's even a link to another thread with all the relevant info on it.

Nothing on the official site, If we were to update it with every piece of media gossip I may as well add Robbie Fowler to the list.

PEARCEY
holsgrove breaks a leg Zurab interview on BBC sport, doesnt look like he is on his way here in August...

No problem with that at all. Pearce will do a better job anyway. If Mills stays they will be a strong defensive partnership.

Agree. I was a fan of Kish and he's a lovely guy (I met him). But some of his defending has been a bit dodgy. I'd like a new defender altogether.

Let's resurrect Barry Hunter.

brendywendy two of the best cross field 50 yard passes ive seen this season came from karacan to mcanuff, in one game.
so he can do it

...and so can Matt Mills (on occasion), doesn't make him the next Darius Wdowczyk either.

The main problem WITH Karacan is that he can't pick a pass out unless it is a hail mary or a five yarder. Pretty decent at everything else, granted.

Howard

21 (06) Appearances 00 Goals 07 Assists 2010-11
33 (06) Appearances 03 Goals 05 Assists 2009-10

54 (12) = 56 x 90 Minutes 03 Goals and 12 Assists. Hardly brilliant, is it?

Considering Howard is supposed to BE our creative midfielder he isn't cutting it.
That might be the fault of our set up/way of playing or down to Howard but Long
and Hunt have much better rates as does Kebe.

A bit surprised that McAnuff's figures aren't great either.

48 (01) (48.17) 25 Goals 11 Assists = a goal or assist every 1.34 Games Long
23 (14) (25.33) 11 Goals 07 Assists = a goal or assist every 1.41 Games Hunt

38 (03) (38.50) 09 Goals 07 Assists = a goal or assist every 2.40 Games Kebe

21 (06) (22.00) 00 Goals 07 Assists = a goal or assist every 3.33 Games Howard 2010-11
54 (12) (56.00) 03 Goals 12 Assists = a goal or assist every 3.73 Games Howard, (two seasons)

44 (00) (44.00) 04 Goals 07 Assists = a goal or assist every 4.00 Games McAnuff
43 (02) (43.33) 03 Goals 05 Assists = a goal or assist every 5.41 Games Jem Karacan

Ought to say how good Noel Hunt's figures are.

A bit of an unsung hero

23 (14) (25.33) 11 Goals 07 Assists = a goal or assist every 1.41 Games Hunt

I've been saying for ages mcanuff flatters to deceive.

Unfortunately last time I said it he scored that goal at cardiff so it looked like egg on my face.

Surprisingly HRK's figures are almost twice as good as McAnuff's

44 (00) (44.00) 04 Goals 07 Assists = a goal or assist every 4.00 Games McAnuff
14 (18) (17.00) 06 Goals 02 Assists = a goal or assist every 2.13 Games HRK

An Assist every 8.5 Games HRK
An Assist every 6.3 Games McAnuff

McAnuff edges ut on assists, but that's not a great rate.

A GOAL every 02.83 games HRK
A GOAL every 11.00 games McAnuff

HRK four times more likely to score!!

McAnuff is hardly likely to improve, though he might equal his current rate.

HRK IS likely to improve.

Based on that, I'd say it was time to play HRK on the left, maybe McAnuff could play full-back?

McAnuff has played RB at least half-a-dozen times and said on the OS
that he thinks he'll finish playing as a RB.

If he doesn't go and we want to make room for HRK it's one option.

I actually think it might work well

Rather have Cummings at RB.

I'd rather have Cummings RW and McAnuff RB, interesting combo able to swap at will

As I've said somewhere else recently, McAnuff is about a lot more than being your typical fancy dan flying winger. Much to my surprise he's been a very responsible and consistent winger who's played out of position a lot and had to offer Harte a lot more protection than he might otherwise have had to.

I'm sure that's impacted his attacking contribution at times but he's still done ok. I'd like to see a few more goals than he's got this year from any winger but goals and assists aren't the be all and end all.

His cameo performances at right back have been very good and it's worth remember that when talking about Gunnarsson ability to cover so many positions. I'm really not sure he's worth another contract, as good a servant as he's been, as he's likely to be4th or 5th choice in any of the positions he'll cover.

Hate to say it, but McAnuff played his best football under Rodgers. But I would also say that he played better with Bertand rather than Harte.

McAnuff

Another Myth blown away?

McAnuff scores MORE playing with Harte (4 goals in 38/39 games) compared with 3 in 41 with Bertrand.

41 (00) 03 Goals 09 Assists 12 Either = A goal every 14 Games. Assist every 4.5 games. Either every 3.5 Games. 2009-10 (With Bertrand)
44 (00) 04 Goals 08 Assists 12 Either = A goal every 11 games. Assist every 5.5 games. Either every 3.7 Games 2010-11 (With Harte except for 6 games)

With so few goals and a difference of one I think who is playing behind him is statistically irrelevant to his goal scoring to be honest.

What myth?

Where have you shown anything on how well he's played let alone actually worked out the stats with and without Harte?

McAnuff has scored more goals this season than last but the difference is so slight that it's irrelevant.

When you play a right footed winger on the left wing you NEED a left footed left back who will overlap for it to be effective. Harte just doesn't do that but Bertrand was brilliant at it. Currently we have a situation where Jobi tries to cut inside onto his right every time and there is no second option, apart from pump it backwards to the halfway line where Harte is waiting. Stick a proper left-footed full back in there who will get forward and Jobi will be freer to be more effective.

Still, he's been pretty good despite that disadvantage this season, just means our left wing is very one dimensional.

Obviously goalscoring isn't impacted but thats hardly a judge of how good a winger has been. Dyer has scored two goals for Swansea this season and was their Player of the Year compared to Sinclair on the other wing with 26 goals or so...

Goal-scoring was IMPROVED. One third more goals.

He plays with Bertie and scores 3. Bertie gets 1. Total 4
He plays with Harte and scores 4. Harte gets 11. Total 15.

Agreed, so goal-scoring is not the factor. How about assists?

9 versus 8... so not assists, either.

So not goals and not assists. What then?

PLEASE explain where "it's obvious" McAnuff played better with Bertie.

Bertrand had just 3 assists, so it's not that either.
