sandman Why is it automatically assumed Afobe is here because of a lack of faith in Simon Church? Le Fondre was anonymous at Peterborough and could just as easily be the reason.

Afobe is here as Roberts season is OVER, hopefully that does not mean ours is too!

We were trying to bring him here before Roberts got injured.

^ We were apparently looking to bring him in before he has his injury and now we've signed him as soon as he's got fit again so my guess is he's always been in the manager's plans irrespective of Roberts' situation.

In his interview on the OS he said how he was told of Reading's approach before the Arsenal reserve game against Liverpool on Tuesday, so clearly we were planning on bringing him in before Roberts' injury.

The Rouge A West Ham style signing.

Mind games.

Actually, you mentioning West Ham does make me think that if he is real deal, We're better off signing him than allowing West Ham or Southampton to sign him. Even if he doesn't play for us, he won't be playing against us.

The Rouge Just had this from a Huddersfield fan:

He has strength beyond his years and can hold on to the ball well. Has pace too but unfortunately lacks in front of goal.

Had similar from a m8 who supports them

"Saw that the other day. He's a decent enough player. Fast, strong, plays on the shoulder of the defence. Played up front by himself a lot for us and did a good job. Wasn't the most clinical when presented which a chance but he scored a few for us despite that. He'll do well for you I reckon."

Hope he has the same impact Robin Friday did all those years ago.

Wimb Excited about this one, sounds like he's got huge potential and already a fair bit of ability. Hopefully this isn't to cover Roberts injury though :/

As for demotivating Church and ALF well if they were good enough on the pitch and in training they'd be playing. You can't afford to be overly sentimental when you've got 8 cup finals and the chance of a £100m windfall. If anything this should inspire them to train even harder and prove they're worth a place in the 16.

boo hoo for Church...

I know thats what the club are saying but is everyone really buying that? Looks like Roberts has long term injury (as in majority of games left) and in comes Afobe. Don't get me wrong excited by his signing beats charlotte church however i just think they knew pretty soon Roberts injury was going to keep him out of most of the run in

That's what Afobe is saying. Do you think the club has asked him to lie about it?

Basingstoke-Royal Think it's unfair to write off Manset he has scored some important goals for us ...

Manset wrote himself off by not getting himself fit.

I'm a bit excited by this. I cant see McD putting him straight in the side but i'd bloody love it if he did.

I don't think this lad would have a big impact with 10 mins here and 5 mins there. I'd like to see him put in the deep end. Let him show us what he can do.

From the footage i've seen he looks very, very confident and has clearly got something about him. And going back to what people were saying earlier it is a complement that RVP and the like are talking/Tweeting about him. You don't see club's senior players talking about youth prospects like that unless they are the real deal or have high potential.

Last time I remember that happening was a 15 year old Michael Owen...

we were in for him before roberts got injured. neither church or le fondre are seen as ideal partners for hunt if anything happens to roberts, which we're now faced with. on the plus side, roberts and ofobe would make a very exciting forward line when roberts returns.

Better play ALF alongside him then to mop up the pieces.

Simon's Church Big risk IMO he's very inexperienced and might not know all the rules yet or what he's supposed to do in front of goal.
Could cause a lot of unrest in the squad as well if he starts getting picked ahead of our top scorer Church. Think this is the end of our automatic hopes.

Simon Church may KNOW what he is meant to do in front of goal, but he's not really very good at doing it
