Good player, still has something to prove and is a good age.

on the same money as the pog, so Ledge or Jem will miss out.

Sanchez deal is dead now as well because of this

It was mentioned on here before he went to press with it, and was mocked for doing so. Now just got to find the post amongst the rubbish.

winchester_royal I'm sure this will fall on death ears, but...

Anybody who moans about signing a guy who's 25 yet already has 100 appearances in the prem, came from an excellent academy, and played for a side that came 5th last season is a mong even by HNA standards.

Agree 100%. Too many cloth-eared mongs here. Guthrie is a very good signing, another shrewd piece of business by BMcD/NH.

Not getting all this 'he's made x appeareances in the Prem'.

Majority of those for a struggling Bolton side, and rarely got a look in at Newcastle, hence being released and seemingly no competeition from any top half teams.

I'm happy to be proven wrong, but I just don't rate him

Wow that post is so factually incorrect it's a little scary.

He was first cover for Newcastle, behind two of the best CM's in the league. Played 16 times last season for Newcastle, hardly 'rarely getting a look in' and never let anyone down. Wasn't released, offered a new contract, but chose to leave to find first team football.

Also, those games for a struggling Bolton side persuaded Newcastle to pay >3m for him as a 21 year old.

I like this signing. It feels like a Reading 'the team who gave him another shot' signing.

Think this signing has the potential to be as good as Roberts its a similar situation really.

I am intrigued by the concept of 'death' ears! Is that similar to having 'blond' eyes?

I remember seeing him play for Newcastle in the championship, he took a few set peices and I thought they were awful, he seemed to give the ball away alot aswell but I wont judge him from one game. In McDermott we trust.

Just hope Harte doesnt lose his place because there arent many better set peice takers than him in the counrty.

i was at the bar yesterday watching the finals with my bro who is a manchester united fan and we were talking about signings and transfers for our clubs. i told him that we signed pog and guthrie and he was extremely impressed by both signings and "reading are moving up in the world and looking to stay for good". im getting excited about our future because people are now starting to take notice of the incredible things that we are doing. we are no longer "little reading"

If its the game I'm thinking of I thought we made them look pretty average as a team. But he was top of their assists in a team that walked the league that year
